I think that bus driver is about to get a re-education. Necklace, necktie, leash, bullwhip; one of these is not like the others.

Somebody beat me over the head I just cannot take my eyes off her breasts!

As my dear departed grandmother would say, somewhere, a mother's heart is breaking.

*beats pi=3 over the head*

Heh heh (imagining pair, fast forward 15 years).

Pie: I know exactly what you mean! And above the picture it says "Scroll down for more"! They got that exactly right! =)

From the article:
"It is definitely discrimination, almost like a hate crime," 19-year-old Miss Maltby said yesterday.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA!

Whew... sorry....

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Boy, talk about a Drama Queen!

Also from the article:
"I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life," she said.

Well then young lady, WHY DO YOU ACT SURPRISED WHEN OTHERS TREAT YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL? I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for this couple.

*puts on old Doc Martens, kicks Doohickie's butt*

Dooh, love ya darlin but you're becoming a grumpy old man, lemme fix that for ya.

doesn't make it right to discriminate against 'em - long as they're not disturbing the peace (read: making more of a scene than the loud, foulmouthed teenagers on the bus behind me last night), then they can ride. End of story.

if that bus driver doesn't like that couple he'd REALLY flip over the tranny i saw on the east end lightrail last week...

Well, it's not my idea of a good time, but why should they be kept off a bus just because one of them is on a leash? It's not exactly a hate crime, but they most definitely are being discriminated against.

What if she promises not to hump any legs?

I'm not seeing a problem letting her on the bus either.

This bus driver wouldn't do well in San Francisco. I've seen lots of people on leases.
posted by small_ruminant 22 January | 21:08
Well, given property values, San Francisco has a large renter population.

lfr... let me say that the bus driver was totally, completely in the wrong. Yet..... if you go as far off the norm of society as that couple did, it's only a matter of time before someone totally, completely in the wrong is gonna give you some guff.

I also learned the picture in the article is a recreation. Here is an actual photo of the couple:

Oh, and lfr,
Dooh, love ya darlin but you're becoming a grumpy old man

You sound just like Mrs. Doohickie! :D

I just hope these people don't have kids. The picture of Snoop Dogg with prostitutes on leashes really disgusted me--though the SF couple seem to be consensual.

What's that? LEASHES did you say?
Oh.
Nevermind!

The couple, who live on benefits in a council house and plan to start a family, have been friends for years.

I'm with Doohickie. They don't deserve the trouble, but they were asking for it.

She is a teenage student, where would they live, other than a council house? There may be less oportunities for him to work due to his 'lifestyle' choice, which probably re-enforces his persecution complex.

Now that I think about it, does he go to college with her?
I don't go anywhere without Dani.

I reckon the bus driver was jealous, I sincerely doubt he was defending womens' rights. Also, Dewsbury is an area of urban renewal, which basically means 'so fucked it has been recognised as such' like Haiti or Detroit.

Got to love the Daily Mail commenters on the website! Small minded people don't get enough oportunity to spout their bile.

Uh, maybe at their parents? When I couldn't afford a place of my own I lived with mom. I lived with her after college, during my first "dog years" (where as a creative in advertising with HUGE student debt you are supposed to work FOR FREE), and the best part was she had already redecorated my room so now I had a room in the back about the size of a bed and a desk.... And I had a curfew at the age of 25. Ugh.
My mom is nice though!

A council house just means "cheap rent" though, right? Not "free"?

Earlier in the week, he banned a rider for wearing these shoes:

I can get behind that.

Dewsbury is not short of council houses and this is their raison d'etre, housing people that can't afford to rent elsewhere. Young couples, families, old people and a large proportion of the mentally ill are housed in council houses.

I would hope their housing benefit covers the full cost of their rent, as they have no income.

We know nothing about their background, so making judgements as to their reasons for living rent assisted is pointless.

As usual in a Daily Mail story/any sensationalist news media, all parties behaved execrably to some extent.

Anyway, Shameless continues to be excellent through the fourth series. I can't believe they are still fresh and fantastic! You can watch all five series with 4OD. Like living in a council estate, but without the underlieing threat of random violence and robbery.

God, I hope my kids don't read this site. (I'm hoping to move one of 'em out this summer (at the age of 19 1/2).)

completely irrevelant, but this used to always annoy me about the costuming on Buffy. When one person is wearing a head-to-toe closed-up-tight leather trench coat and tall boots, the other person should not be in a tank top (no, I don't mean the vampires. I mean Buffy in her turtleneck and coat while everyone else is in filmy no-sleeved cotton peasant blouses). One of you is dressed inappropriately for the weather. FIX IT.

Just as a followup - the bus company has issued an apology.
