When was the last time you cried? [More:](I was fighting back a few tears a couple of days ago, while watching Taare Zameen Par [the story of a dyslexic child and his teacher], and wished I wasn’t with my mom or sis or the hundred other people I was watching it with.)
Some time last week.
i was really overtired and underslept, watching something where someone was showing how incredibly loving and supportive his huge family was and i just lost it.

i am interested in the chemical composition of tears.

Wow, cool! Have to check that out as soon as I get back hoem:)
Thanks.

dude, I'm pathetic, I cry watching ads if they push the right buttons. It's gotten a lot worse since I spawned too.

?? I swear i only pressed post once. I'm using safari if that has anything to do with it

There are a few people who seem to have it happen often. We should track it.

One of the last few episodes of Kid Nation - so, I guess a couple of months ago? That's a pretty big gap for me, although I guess about average in my adult life. I inherited the Hopelessly Insanely Sensitive Gene from my Dad. Every report card I had up until junior high said, "cries easily". Zoloft has been a huge help for me with that, sort of raising the threshold trigger so I'm at least not bawling in public every week.

Yesterday, at a memorial service.

This morning.

Gestating has made me much more teary. I'm pretty much having a cry every day.

Not sure if this counts, but Friday morning while I was vomiting from the death plague going around. Ugh.

Legitimate sadness crying? Two nights ago while watching The Day The Earth Stood Still with my dad. Jesus that movie's sad.

Shamefacedly, watching "Sleepless in Seattle" two nights ago.

Wednesday. I bawled. Normally I am not a cryer. I can go months without crying. Sure, I'll get teary at a sappy movie, but cry? Rarely. But since the start of the year, I have cried more days than I haven't. Not a good start to the year, I fear. I hope I stop crying soon.

Early October, when a dumb boy hurt my feelings.

Last February or March when I lost three old friends in six weeks. I hardly ever cry (once every few years if that) and seldom even get teary at movies - it has been suggested to me that this is a fault and maybe it is, but there you have it.

About a month ago, when I hit my head on a shelf at CostCo. I was already "overtired," as my mother used to say, and it pushed me over the edge.

Last night at my boyfriend's cold and untalking back. And then yesterday afternoon at a funeral. As great as it started, yesterday turned into a not-good day.

Yesterday when getting my brows waxed... but I don't know if it counts. Beyond that, it's been a while.

Yesterday, while watching Buffy.

My threshold has been lower lately, and Buffy keeps making me turn on the waterworks.

It's too bad that men are considered weak if they cry. I think the opposite. Everything makes me cry. Commercials, movies, and especially live music. How embarrassing.

I cry pretty routinely. I have chronic pain from a back injury I suffered about a year ago, and letting myself cry during a quiet moment serves as an outlet for the pain and exhaustion.

But most recently... well, we've been watching all six years of "The Sopranos" on DVD, and Friday we finished it up. (No spoilers ahead). During the penultimate episode, I shed a couple of tears for one of the lesser characters, for no reason I can articulate.

I cried Christmas Day when I watched "The Great Debaters."

I'm with dabitch, sometimes I'll cry at pet food commercials, sometimes not. I watched No Country For Old Men last night, so today's answer is "last night"

A couple days ago while reading something online. Been on the edge a couple times since then for no apparent reason. I cry a lot so this is fairly normal for me.

Friday night, when someone did something unexpectedly kind that took me by surprise. (Someone from Metachat, in fact. Thanks again.)

It's been a few days, but then again I've done more than my share of crying during the last two months. And I'm also one who will cry at just the right commercial or song at times.

Embarrassingly, I cried while watching a What Not To Wear *clip* show, for heaven's sake. They showed a couple they had made over, and when they let the two of them see each other for the first time they both just looked so happy and nervous and excited, and then they stared into each other's eyes and told each other how wonderful they were, and I'm tearing up again. Sigh.
posted by occhiblu 13 January | 19:36
Oh that sounds lovely though occhiblu. I'd tear up at that too.

Heh, amro. A dumb boy is currently hurting my feelings, so I'd have to go with "as I type." I cry easily. It's a source of huge embarrassment.

Last week I was on call for work, and got called to relieve a support worker at 12.30am as the police had called and were sending a car for her, but wouldn't tell her why. I arrived before they did, and was with her when she was informed her only son had been killed in a car accident. I've had sporadic teary moments ever since. Like now.
posted by goo 14 January | 11:52
Ouch, goo, I'm so sorry for her. That truly is horrible. That could (and will) make me cry just thinking about what she's going through.

Also, I don't let anyone cry alone around me. I will always join in.
