This Movie Is Fantastic! (And May Already Haz It's Own Thread....) [More:]

Love it when movies take the audience's intelligence as a given.

Who's seen it here?
I loved this picture. I'll also recommend you see Romance And Cigarettes LT.

It didn't match up to the hype for me; maybe it would have been more of a "revelation" if I'd never heard The Frames before. But I enjoyed watching it.

Agreed! (@LT)

What didn't match the hype for me was seeing them in concert. Too many Frames songs...

I saw it just this week, and was pretty "meh" about it - like kyleg it just didn't seem to live up to all of its hype.

Not that kyleg doesn't live up to the hype.

i just saw it and liked it very much. The music holds it together and i love the music, but then i knew i wanted to see it and avoided hype.
Hype and expectation always diminish things unless i expect something to be horrible, in which case it makes something a nice surprise or unexpectedly delightful. When people like things, they don't often describe what it is they like very well, and if someone says something is "amazing," it's going to have to be epic and innovative and spectacular, and most things aren't.
It's a small, sweet movie and i liked it for that. i liked the simple statement that people don't have to end up together to affect each other, and i liked that the one thing i did know about this movie is that the leads started dating each other afterwards and were still together up to a few weeks ago when a woman who saw the movie invited them to come pick a guitar from her dead husband's collection. He had quite a collection and had been a busker.

I saw it a few months ago. I had not heard anything about it, and I loved it.

Enough to own it now. . .*smile*

I just saw Once last week in Hamburg and Glen Hansard was there. He answered a bunch of questions and told some funny stories. After that he played songs on his guitar and gave autographs. I had my picture taken with him but it turned out all fuzzy and I had a really stupid grin on my face.
