19 January 2008
As of January 19, 2008, it is no longer called "pulling a Wendell", it is called "pulling an Estrich". That is all.
And no, I do NOT consider myself 'in proud company'.
I'd be annoyed if my email addy was up for all to see in a mass mailing like that, but that goes without saying. Furthermore, I'd be even more miffed if it was posted on the net for every tom, dick and harry spammer (yeah, I decided to just go with it) to see.
I got an e-mail at work the other day with the subject line "STOP SENDING ME THIS SHIT." Slightly alarmed, I opened it to find that the sender had hit "reply to all" - where "all" was the entire company's distribution lists - in regards to a spammy email sent by an ex-employee months ago. Scrolling down the email trail, there was a long string of replies-to-all to the original spam email, so apparently the newest recipient had dozens upon dozens of these in his email box when he checked his inbox after a long hiatus.
