So! Cloverfield! (poss. spoilers) See it? Whadja think?
I really liked it, and my husband just kept saying "fucking brilliant."

Everyone just sat there at the end, not believing that it was truly over, I think. I have rarely seen that reaction with an audience.

I edited your post, 2or3, to include the word "spoilers" in the title section instead of the body field, so that comments will be blacked out on the recent comments page.

Oh, cool, that works.

I found it more exciting than scary, which was fine. But awesome. I think it would have been better if it had been shot on digital video, or something that looked more amateur (cf. Blair Witch). Can you not do the same effects with that? Is that why no one does it?

I just got home from it, and I really liked it. My boyfriend felt it was "meh," and several people on the way out commented that they wanted their money back. I would have been happier not really seeing the monster.

Just got back from the theater. I thought it was really well done. I agree that the video quality was a little too good to totally make the hand-held style work.

I'd imagine doing the effects to match a more grainy, hand-held stock would be a lot more work, though theres no reason they couldn't have added some grain and what not after all the effects were composited in.

I'll be picking up the DVD.

Yeah, but the shaky camera was hard enough to see through at times, I very much doubt that they'd want to lessen the quality even MORE much to the chagrin of moviegoers.

I saw it the day it came out, and I loved it.

Yep, same here.
