My computer monitor broke today and I was too afraid to tell IT [More:] (because I thought it was my video card, and that they'd make me use the shared machines in the design lab instead of my nice, personal machine will all the things just how I like them). But thankfully, it was just the monitor, and now I have a nice new one that looks much different for some reason.

What have you broken recently? (and ethylene, I expect to hear more about those mugs)
I broke one of those HUGE, FANCY, EXPENSIVE, motorised projector screens at work. Yanno, the magical kind that disappear into the ceiling?

Well, actually it broke all on its lonesome (the motor died) but I was the last person to touch it when it was functional, so... I, all remorseful, called Maintenance and was like "um... *digs toe in sand, wrings hands a bit* ...er, i kinda broke your fancybigspendy gadget..." and they were all "HOORAY!! Now we can FINALLY justify replacing that [censored] piece of [poo]!

Oh and currently the 'guts' (the screen bit) is duct taped to the wall so we can use it. It looks quite incongruously ghetto in the midst of the tasteful stuffiness of the mahogany-paneled video suite. Kind of like a big fat tag on the side of the Stock Exchange.

I thought I broke my internet just a while ago. Every web page I visited immediately scrolled to the bottom and flashed like a strobe light. I couldn't scroll up for anything.

Turned out the cat was sitting on the space bar.

LOL!

I chipped a coffee mug handle the other day.

i didn't break those mugs and it was a long time ago.
Stuff breaks around me all the time. i'm sure there's a humorous and heartbreaking story lurking around here somewhere in recent memory but i can't find it right now.

i did burst someone's bubble a couple hours ago, does that count?

I was taking a cup off the shelf that also holds our shot glasses - a huge collection from places we've been. I knocked over *threw* the one that the BF brought me from his work trip to Atlanta. It shattered on the counter into a million little pieces. I was sad.

My video card broke. I went to the geek store and bought a new one that's not nearly as fancy, and now my optical drives don't work. Sigh. Samsung is the suck with drivers, so now I have to open the box yet AGAIN to figure out the exact model number of my drives so I can download new drivers to re-install. Blah.

My home server went non-responsive the other day. I was freaking out until I went into the front room and found that an errant cable had got jammed on the F1 key, and the machine was trying to load it's eight-millionth gnome help window. I wonder if that could be a new benchmarking tool...

My colleague broke the scroll ball on her mighty mouse. I had to open it up and clean it out. When I put it back together, it was good as new. Yay!

I was on a stepladder changing the light bulb in the ceiling fixture at the top of my stairwell. I was having a hell of a time getting the thread to take. I fumbled, almost recovered, and then knew it was too late. It's a wood floor; there was broken glass on the landing/hall, in my office, and down the stairs. Took me a half-hour to thoroughly clean it up.

I broke the office shredder because I was too impatient to put sheets in 1 at a time. The new one takes more sheets at a time. Yay, me!

Unlikely crush || How hard would it be to make a bracelet like this?
