Home Shopping Network on-air meltdown: Batty caller drives already near-hysterical presenter over the edge. I feel kind of bad for both of them.
I don't get what happened. ?

I don't see it as a meltdown. I guess I expected a flameout or rage....she just had a severe case of the giggles.

It seems like the calls leading up to this call were more or less the reason for the host's fragile state. She was already shaking her head and making faces and sighing before the caller in the video started with the "I know you remember that bracelet - you showed it 10 years ago" and "Say hi to my dog" comments.

Yeah, I guess I should have characterized it more as a hysterical breakdown, as in "a fit of uncontrollable laughing or crying". And I definitely think the presenter was already on the verge -- this caller was merely the straw that broke the camel's back.

I guess I just sympathize with the HSN lady, because I'm prone to uncontrollable laughing fits myself, especially in inappropriate situations (office meetings, church services), but at least I've never had it happen to me on live TV!

I giggled uncontrollably during a funeral, much to my everlasting embarrassment and dismay. It was my grandmother's funeral!

Soooooo humiliating....

Me too. At some point the absurdity of it all must hit hard.

Ooh, I did that, too! Of course, I was eight. That makes it OK, right?

I think it does. I was 24.

I giggled uncontrollably during my first wedding. My maid-of-honor kept teasing me before the big day that when it came to "If anyone believes this marriage should not take place, speak now or forever hold their peace." she was going to speak up.

Well, during the Big Day, as the minister began that line, my maid-of-honor sort of cleared her throat. That was all it took. We both got the giggles, so bad that I actually considered halting the ceremony so we could get it out of our systems. Looking back, that was my favorite memory of that day. Says a lot for the marriage, doesn't it?

My brother and his wife both laughed themselves silly during their wedding ceremony.

10th anniversary next month.

10th anniversary next month, so who knows. It worked for them.

Someone i know couldn't stop laughing in front of the judge. i had a straight shot of her as the small legal part was being gotten out of the way before the big to do that evening, and i could see in her eyes it was either laugh or cry, and she wasn't gonna cry. The groom not only didn't make a sound, he possibly didn't blink, as they held hands facing each other, which probably made her bust up harder.
Good god, it's probably at least their tenth anniversary.
