Remember when we discussed Katherine Heigl knocking "Knocked Up"? Rumor has it, that talk may have cost her.
So, she said that the movie "paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as goofy, fun-loving guys," and lost her shot at an Oscar nomination because of it?
Loopy. Should Kathy Bates have said how much she thought her character in Misery should be a role model to girls everywhere?
I dunno, sounds like a plant. The voting is still open.
The nominations for Best Actor/Actress are done by fellow actors, i.e. peers. Many of whom probably think exactly what she did about the movie.
The plain fact is that comedies, especially comedy actresses, are given short shrift at the Academy Awards. But I wouldn't be surprised if she still makes it in.
Judging by the comments, the same people frequent Livejournal as Youtube. I mean, "hahah thats what the cunt gets"? What the fuck? At least some of them were perceptive enough to realize the inherent BS in the idea that she would have been nominated for anything for that movie in the first place...
Plant. This is so that PR people can harp about her "loosing an Oscar" to being "an outspoken actress" in future interviews, and have Katherine Heigl "not want to comment on it" blablabla. It'll look great for her in future print.
But lets face it, weren't we all a little stumped when Marisa Tomei won that Oscar for my Cousin Vinnie? Not that she wasn't great in the part ("my biological clock is ticking like this! *stomp stomp*") but because, what the.... A comedy got an oscar? Really?
Also her comment wasn't even bad and taken totally out of context plus blown out of proportion. If she has a good PR agent, this is the clever save in action. Get some sympathy.
