Fancy pasta. We were given some designer tri-color pasta made with olive, arugula, and red pepper and I wanted to make a salmon and asparagus dish with it, but when I went to the nearby grocery, there was no asparagus, and the salmon they had was selling for 12 Euros. Too rich for my pocket! So...

I cooked it up with baby snow peas, mushrooms, and smoked trout (only 4 Euros. heh.) and it turned out pretty darn good.
I fried and crumbled a couple of strips of bacon, then sauteed the mushrooms in that pan, with a splash of white wine, tossed in the trout bits, briefly stir-fried the snow peas and added them to the mushroom/trout mix along with some cream and let it simmer a bit.
Finally I tossed this sauce with the pasta and served with some fresh parmesan. Nice! But I think I'll skip the cream next time... The pasta itself was rich tasting, plus there was the bacon, and it didn't really need the extra cream-oomph.
Also, we were out of peppercorns, so I used a little cayenne in it, so it was very nicely hottish.
