By garsh, I'm out of debt! (sort of) →[More:]Let's see: student loans paid off, no car payment, no credit card debt (I pay that off every month). I do have a mortgage payment, but hey, I've gotta pay for my shelter one way or the other, right? Am I missing anything? Can I retire now?

Congratulations! I paid off the last of my consumer debt 18 months ago (it took me five years to pay it off, and was the debt I took on as a 'reward' for getting rid of my ex-husband). Now I have one credit card which I only use to buy flights and things like that, and always pay it off in full, and the mortgage. Not quite ready to retire, but oh, what a relief not to have loans, car payments, credit card debts ...

Way to go! We're about halfway to this I think. Tackling the credit card debt was one of the most rewarding things I've done in my life! I'm down to a couple of thousand in student debt and a car loan. Oh, and a mortgage of course, but I also don't tend to count that.

Congrats! I am about a year away from paying off my student loans, and we haven't had any credit card debt for a year or so either. Feels great, huh? (no mortgage though... maybe if we leave NYC).

I have no intention of ever going into debt again.
