I lost track of the Photo Fridays, so I'm not sure if any of these have been used/discussed, but here are a few ideas. Some are simple that you don't have to leave the house for, others are much broader:

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? - a photo of something common or well known, but photographed in such a way that it's not so obvious

TODAY'S WEATHER REPORT - pictures that illustrte what the weather's like by you today

THREE PICTURE STORY - Three pictures that when put together tell a story (either an actual narrative or an unintential possible story)

OLD SCHOOL PICTURES

WHY THE HELL DID I KEEP THIS?!? - Pictures of things you own and you have no clue why

MMMMMMMM......FOOD

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING BORROWED, AND SOMETHING BLUE - Not about weddings, but about something old, something borrowed, and well...something blue.

PHOTOS/SCANS of artwork you did as a kid (or even art you do now)

Those a re a few off the top of my head. In 2008 I want to get back to participating in Photo Fridays.

(I believe youngergirl44 has put a page in the Wiki listing past topics, and people have been adding to it as the weeks go by, if you want to double check before deciding on one. You can also add whatever topic you choose.)

I like "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" and "WHY THE HELL DID I KEEP THIS?" For extra fun, we could combine the two, and people could photograph objects they've kept that they no longer remember the function of.

WHY THE HELL DID I KEEP THIS is a good January/New Years theme.

Chuckdarwin picked Hugh Janus to pick the theme for 1/4. But with the holiday, I guess Hugh missed the post or forgot or something. So we had an unofficial assignment from DarkForest.

IMO we can:
(A) Go with one of the suggestions above from Slack-a-gogo
(B) Have Hugh Janus pick a theme for this week and then a picker for 1/18
(C) Have DarkForest pick a picker for this week

It seems like the picking the next picker thing hasn't really worked out very well. Since I originally suggested it, I'll now suggest canning it, though I don't know what to replace it with.

I like the "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" and "WHY THE HELL DID I KEEP THIS?" idea. My house if full of things that qualify, though they may not be photogenic.

We could get rid of the 'suggestions' part of the wiki and just keep the 'upcoming themes' part. When someone has a suggestion, they just add it to the wiki on the next available date. We already have a stockpile of ideas, both in the wiki and the ones you suggested here, so we'd be good for a while. If we ever run low on suggestions, we can just post a thread asking for more.
