Bus fun The campus I work at provides a free employee bus for "Green Transport." It has long been the tradition that people leave the bus in an orderly fashion, front to back. But for the past couple of months a new employee who likes to sit in the back and then cut in front of all the people patiently waiting their turn.[More:]

WTF bus queue jumping guy?
I'd put my foot out as I prepare to stand up. Oops.

Hmm. Doesn't sound like a great fit. Maybe you guys could tell him it's not an airplane?

What the hell? Don't sit in the back, backseatcuttinginlinedude.

Today a lone person (who I don't know) stood up in the aisle right in front of backseatcuttinginlinedude, blocking him while everyone else got out. Heh.

I'm trying to work out what's happening here... Everyone files out the front, with the people in the front seats leaving first, and if someone behind them is already in the aisle, that person waits for them to get out of their seats and into the aisle and out the door ahead of him? Do I have that right? And this queue-jumping guy races up the aisle from the back to get near the head of the exiting line?

I haven't seen an orderly queue in more than 12 years, or any kind of organized embark/disembark at all; just elbows-out every-man-for-himself surging and thronging... I think you should ask him if he's Greek. :)

Yeah, you've got it, taz. Regardless of what is done elsewhere, the community norm here is to wait. If you want to get off the bus quickly, you sit at the front.

I wonder why he doesn't just sit in the front?

I always make it a point here to hold the line back and let elderly people, moms with kids, and people with bags get out of their seats. Because I'm a rebel. A manners rebel.

Thanks for being a rebel Taz, I've nearly missed my stop at times when people run out and in through the doors before I managed to get that cadillac sized pram Perle used to have off the trains. It pissed me off to no end.

...Until I discovered that being a mom gives you that "Mom voice" where you can say something, not loud or mean or anything but with that tone, and I could say: "Please behave let people off and stand clear of the doors" and little punks would straighten up and growly old grumpy men would take a step back. Awesome.
