Course, I want to take them all home, which is why I cannot visit shelters, and am torn whenever I go past the adoption teams set up at places. And, I want to take all the homeless people home too...and, fix all those folks that are suffering due to some war, disaster or other atrocity. Argh, I'm making myself crazy!
When I decided to adopt a new cat I looked at the website for the cat shelter and picked out my two. I asked to look at them, and only them, no others, or I wouldn't have been able to choose. Fortunately they were desperate/needy enough to bond with me there and then and so we made a good match.
Good idea! You're a softie too - my creatures have all been foundlings that managed to see the hobo sign indicating "good home" - or, they were given to us by people who could no longer look after them.
Ohh, I'd take him in a heartbeat. If I had a bigger yard. I, too, want to take them all home. I'm able to avoid the shelter, but my biggest weakness is for strays. Lost dogs are the saddest thing ever, and I want to either find their humans or keep them forever.
It's heartbreaking when I can't find the dog's humans and once I decide that I'll keep the dog and give it a name and a collar, the humans show up. Where were you a week ago?
When I got Saffron, I too combed the Humane Society website until she came up. When I went to meet her, they had me get the tag from the kennel she was in. Walking through the kennel was heartbreaking. All these wonderful dogs needing homes. I made it through though. Silver was pretty freaked out when I took him in there to meet Saffron. I don't think he wanted to stay...
