27 January 2008

Three point weekend update. [More:]

1. I'm sitting in one room with a very scared kitty. She squeezed herself into the crack between the wall and the CD tower the moment she was released from the cage and been hiding there ever since. Hopefully, she'll come out soon - she must be very hungry.

2. We went to a concert Friday night. Pia Fraus was playing, supported by Mirabilia (who were presenting their first album) and Ans. Andur (all of them play indie/shoegaze and are quite big in the local indie scene). The music was awesome; I lost myself in the sound and it felt so good, I haven't felt so good in ages. Afterwards, we went and bought two Pia Fraus EP-s - one CD and one 12''. The whole band came and signed the 12'' for us, and a lot of fun was had in the process.

3. I almost installed Vista SP1 RC today, but decided against it, as the real deal seems to be only 2-3 weeks away. Now I'll have to find something else to play with.
1: 15 mile run was easier than last week, although my legs are still a little achy

2: Need more sleep

3: Off to see Mindy Smith in London in a about 20 minutes

3: Leftover Indian food from movie night on Friday.

Life is good.

1. Just realized my cat's been slowly ripping feathers off a black mirabou boa. After being chastised, she's climbed inside a sweatshirt and is using it as a sleeping bag. Now she is giving me the "You writing about me again?" look.

2. i am happy that you enjoy "social networking." Now stop inviting me into your damn networks, people i don't know, barely know and just don't care about. i just don't do it and i think your sad excuses for web pages are ugly.

3. Knowing you are socially inept does not give you carte blanche when hurting other people's feelings, geekboys, or that you don't have to try to avoid doing so.
That "knowing is half the battle" thing? Note the "half the battle" part? i stopped defending your lot so don't look at me, man.

1. Too much birthday celebrating for my friend.

2. Groceries just got delivered. We have food!

3. maryland-duke game tonight. Have to finish work before then.

1: Working on my kitchen and understanding why plumbers make so much freaking money. So far I haven't opened up an artery or set the house on fire but I'm not done yet.

2: Went to a late new years company party at our HR directors house last night. Only one manager bothered to show up and have a beer with us lowly engineers.

3: Starting to question our sanity in buying a 138 year old house with bad wiring, plumbing, heating and windows. (And yes goddammit, for the last time, I've seen that Tom Hanks movie).

octothorpe: re: 1, I had a similar moment of enlightenment when I was laying down the new living room floor. I realized that the reason why builders and decorators (most of whom are apparently moronic) make so much money is that no person in their right minds would be willing to do this day after day.

1. I'm quite enjoying the Sarah Connor Chronicles so far.

2. Celeriac and mushroom quiche for dinner. Mmmmmm.

3. Have the house to myself for the next week, which is both woohoo and boo.

1. Made supreme progress on the cleaning up of my workplace (fuck you 2 year backlog of unshelved film).

2. Have delicious leftovers waiting for me at home.

3. Killed the best copier we have. Have now realized that we are out of toner cartridges for it. Boss will probably be cranky. :(

I liked the NO methods so much better than the YES methods. Does this make me a bad person?

If you don't pick them up by the head, you can't adjust them properly. Everybody knows that.

1. Garage sale was a bust. I live in the wrong area of town. 3rd time's the last time.
2. Nursing my sore muscles and cleaning up the kitchen with kidlets
3. Still nitpicking, but no critters for 4 days in a row!

And Daniel, good luck with the kitty!

1. clean up house in anticipation of sister's visit
2. baby shower! it was awesome!
3. listening with pleasure as husband and sister paint baby's room, something I kind of didn't think was ever going to get done before I went into labor. Ahhhh.

Pinky.p, I was still painting my first son's room the day before he was born. Then again, he did arrive a month early, so I probably shouldn't have been doing that, but I was nesting, dammit!

1. Got the family and in-laws together to go bowling! Nothing cuter than a two year old and a four year old bowling for the first time.

2. I actually got two strikes! (I haven't bowled in years, and I was never very good).

3. Right now just chillin' with the family, looking forward to cake later!

1// Yesterday was one of the best days I've had all month, thanks to"
- a. the sun finally coming out,
- b. snow angels,
- c. early birthday presents from my boyfriend, and
- d. surprise dinner reservations.

2// My early birthday present was a collapsible light box and enough continuous lighting to see my apartment from space. I immediately put my dog in the lightbox.
- a. That's what you do with dogs and lightboxes.
- b. She really needs a haircut.

3// The plan today is to get to the gym or, barring that, maybe a walk around the river. And then to the theatre for There Will Be Blood.

1. Saturday was all about relaxing, and then shopping for supplies against the forecast of Winter Blast 2008.
2. Today we went up to the Frye for the R. Crumb exhibit; too many peoples there, so we'll be going back at some later point. After that, a brisk walk near the lake with the dog.
3. Where the hell is the snow I was promised?
