The results of these things are getting more predictable the more of these I take. All the democratic candidates seem to agree with me except on issues economics an trade. In that arena, none of them do. Of course, As far as weighting issues, which this poll-o-meter emphasizes, I put half of all my points in climate change/energy policy and scattered the rest with little concern. My feeling is that without dealing with climate change, all the rest of the issues will become moot.
This is wonderful, mullacc. By clicking through to positions on specific issues, you can actually see quotes and the voting record on legislation pertaining to those issues. Very content-filled.
Again, I get Kucinich, but still. C'est la guerre.
Well darn... I don't know how to take this. I support them, in the "better than nothing" sense, but oppose them because it's a seperate-but-inequal option given to gay people while most states still see gay marriage as illegal.
So I have no clue how to answer that one. Does support mean you're for gay rights, or for seperate but not equal? Does oppose mean you think gay people should be allowed to get married, or that you think there should be nothing?
ugh.
I get Gravel and Kucinich with 92% and 90%, respectively. I'd like Gravel if it wasn't for his National Initiative stuff. And I only have superficial reasons not to support Kucinich.
The mainstream Dems come out extremely close for me: Edwards, Obama and Clinton at 81%, 80% and 79%.
kellydamnit: Yeah, gay rights issues were dealt with strangely in this quiz. I got the question do "I support or oppose gay marriage?"--I said strongly support and then I'm told that I'm "very different" from Edwards, Clinton and Obama, who have all said kinda scary things about supporting civil unions but not gay marriage. But I think they're all more than just one notch up from the Republicans who all take much more scary positions on the matter.
And I got "Dennis Kucinich shares a 99% similarity with your beliefs" with Gravel at 95% and Edwards at 80%.
And yet I support Obama since, well, I think I'm slightly more likely to win the nomination than Kucinich (and I'm not even running!), and I get a total sleezy politician vibe from Edwards.
Totally agreed, mullacc... the mainstream candidates are all civil union types. Although Obama did vote against the defense of marriage act, and thinks states should be allowed to legalize it if they want. He does also seem to be more open-minded than a lot of his contemporaries in regards to the issue, as well.

I think I'm starting to support Edwards, because I so desperately want the Dems to put up somebody who will actually win the general election, and I feel like he might have the best chance at it.
And yeah, when you think about that in light of my personal political views, it's kind of a downer, but so is every goddamned thing else about politics, so why should this be any different?

That's exactly why I support Edwards. (Despite the fact that every single one of these quizzes wants me to vote for Kucinich or Gravel.)
After looking at your numbers I think I must be hard to get along with. Mike Gravel 66%, Dennis Kucinich 65%, John Edwards 63% similarity. Fairly low numbers.
Heh. Kucinich, Gravel, Edwards for me, which is good because Johnny's my man so far. And Obama is a bit below, and Clinton below that, which matches the way I feel about them.
