Three things making you happy this morning→[More:]Go.
1. It is not freezing in my office. And when I turn my head I can see my bf smiling at me from a photo cube next to a troll doll and a pretty/goofy Chinese New Years card that was earnestly sent by the Beijing Institute of Science and Technology and which is urging me to come into a good fortune, a sentiment I heartily endorse.
2. My rent check was not, as I had feared, sitting on my desk all week while I was on vacation, so presumably it is with my landlord. Phew.
3. I'm healthy; I'm happy and in love; my belly is full of oatmeal with apricots; there's coffee downstairs; I like my job and my orange office; my kids and friends and family are all fine and the dog hasn't eaten anything vitally important to me in like four entire days.
1. Daughter is healthy, happy, has some friends, and is newly interested in being in shape (which is strange but good - she'll randomly drop and do a set of pushups at any time).
2. Just about done with dealing with latest theft. Got a used ipod, matching my old one, for less than insurance settlement, and just need to replace work camera now, but money is there.
3. The sunrise is beautiful this morning and if I had replaced camera as per item #2, you'd have seen it.
1. No funerals today!
2. I'm roasting a whole pig for the BCS Championship game tonight (Geaux Tigers!)
3. The "Juno" soundtrack is playing and I've got my iPod set on "Repeat All".
1. Big big exciting news this morning
2. had truffles and cake for colleague's birthday -- YUM
3. Going out for dinner tonight for mum's birthday -- yay!
1. Only 11 days until I'm on holiday.
2. I am back on track with my diet and exercise.
3. The new series of 'Project Catwalk' (our version of 'Runway') starts this week.
gaspode, you're going to leave us hanging with your #1 there??
1. I am going to the gym tonight to learn how to use the weight machines.
2. I have Jeeves & Wooster season 3 at home to watch.
3. Work is laid back for another week or so.
1. It's a beautiful day.
2. I walked two miles with the iPod this morning and was taking huge steps bouncing to the beat.
3. The allergic rash on my face is getting better.
1// There's a layer of frost covering all of the trees and bushes this morning, making everything pretty. This is what winter is supposed to look like.
2// My new pants are good-butt pants, plus they are one size smaller than I've worn in a really long time!
3// Have an electric radiator sitting under my desk which, along with the green tea I'm drinking, is making me warm and happy.
1. the weather is fucking amazing today
2. i have the best boyfriend ever. things keep getting better and better and it's blowing my mind.
3. i found out that my insurance went into effect on the 1st, so i can go get my gall bladder surgery soon.
2. My fiancé purchased a domain for us that we're going to use to host a wedding website. This will probably be more fun for both of us than the actual wedding planning.
3. I accomplished some of the things on my to do list this weekend. Not as much as I had hoped, but at least it was something.
1. I'm hooooommmmme! It was great seeing so many friends, but after a peripatetic and endlessly social 9 days, it's nice to be here in the quiet with the fire and the happy kittehs.
1a. The charming waif who stayed here while I was gone not only looked after the cats, he vacuumed! And organized my recycling! And left not one single dirty dish! Way above and beyond the call, good sir.
2. I actually found a dress to wear to my brother's wedding next weekend. It was stoooopidly expensive, but it's really lovely, IMHO (green with black lace overlay and black velvet accents, long, all swishy at the bottom). I have no idea where else I'll wear it, as I'm running out of unmarried relatives with Significant Others, but hell. It's purty. Now hopefully I have a bra that'll work with it.
3. Bought guidebooks for Belize & Guatemala while in Vancouver, so now I'm gleefully going through them, figuring out which of the bazillion amazing places I'll actually visit.
1. The little monsters that are my students were less monstrous today. Downright civil, in fact. (I try not to have hope. Hope is bad. But now and then I'm surprised.)
2. A bird pooped on my head this morning, right after I bought my coffee at the corner cart near my school, outside the train. I wiped it with the napkin from the bag, walking down the sidewalk. It was most unpleasant. A colleague said it was good luck, though.
3. It was, indeed, a beautiful spring-preview day. I carried my coat. Took deep breaths. Picked flowers and read poetry.
('pode, if you don't tell us, we're just going to assume you're pregnant : )
Pips, it is supposed to be good luck. But it's damned disgusting, too. It used to happen to me every now and then when I was tourguide-ing, because Venice is completely filled with pigeons, and the worst thing was having to continue giving my tour as if I were not totally skeeved out and being unable to change clothes or properly clean it up until afterwards (I would imagine teaching all day would be similar, if not worse).
The worst day, however, was when a pigeon flew into my head while I was in the middle of waxing poetic about St. Mark's. I thought someone had thrown a football at me, the damned thing hurt so much.
