my vacuum cleaner doesn't suck :( →[More:]
I think I clogged it up, cos the belt on the little whirlybrush was making that fabulous burning-rubber stench. *sigh*. I'll take it apart later when I get back.

This is what I did today:
- washed EVERY DAMN THING in the house: sheets, towels, dishtowels, blankets, duvet and futon cover, couch throws plus all the laundry-laundry.
- vacuumed all the rugs/floors, well up until the zoombroom got all cranky on me there (just the hall to do when I get back)
- scrubbed the kitchen floors, took out trash, unloaded dishwasher, cleaned counters.
- wiped down / damp mopped all the hardwood floors, baseboards and wood surfaces.
- dusted. EVERYWHERE. *wah-CHOOO!*
- cleaned both toilets, plus all the fixtures in the big bathroom. O yea, scrubbed that floor too.
- grocery shopped stuff for dinner tonight: roast beef, mushrooms, new red potatoes, MeCha's famous broccoli arribiata
- this will all be served with a phenomenal Barossa Valley cabernet and some top notch single estate chocolate.

So now I'm taking a quick lunch break down at the internet cafe' while the floors dry and the comforter flaps on the laundry line (it's warm and WINDY today!) so I can catch up on email and bunnies. When the mister gets back, I'll stick the roast in the oven, then we'll load up the Jeep and do a big goodwill / recycling run, come back, put our feet up and eat some yummy, yummy FOOD!

oh yea, the cat has evidently gone into hiding. I probably vacuumed up ten cats' worth of his hair, tho.

*whew* I'm tuckered, and not even half done yet, really. What have y'all been doing today?

Uh, you make me sound/feel lazy. I ... uh ... woke up. Smoked a cigarette. Took a bath. Got some coffee and muffins from the AWESOME cafe that is three blocks away. And now I'm half-sitting/half-lying in bed, reading the interwebs.

We were supposed to go to Tiffany's today. But The Boy has a 5 p.m. deadline and I sense he is nowhere near meeting it. We have to look at RINGS!!! And the store closes at 6 p.m.!!!

How can we look at rings if he is not available to look at rings???

I've been doing considerably less than you, lfr.

After a late night last night, got up at 11.30, noodled around online, went to the gym, showered, went out for a late lunch, did a couple of errands and am now home to lie around for a few hours before we go out to celebrate my friend's birthday.

I've only been semi productive. Did some email stuff, caught up with a friend. Looked over some photos, but didn't post any new ones. When grocery shopping for odds and ends. Made hummus, and it's awesome. Made a nappa cabbage salad to take for a family gtg this afternoon. Relaxing with the pooches now. Man, when the wind died down here in Golden it got NICE out. I'm definitely heading into Denver in the AM to shoot some photos. I liked the urban stuff I did in North Carolina, so I want to continue on that while I'm on a roll. Gonna shoot some film too tomorrow. Got a nice TLR awhile ago, and I have the Holga, so I'll finish the roll of color slide film, and hopefully shoot some rolls of B and W that I'll develop myself. I'm finally all set up for it. I need a scanner to scan film tho...

Oh, and when that stinky smell happens, often it's the belt slipping. I know when I still had carpets the dog hair would get between the belt and the roller brush thingie and cause it to slip. I would have to take the roller out and get all the hair and string and stuff out, and then it would work fine again.

yea eek, I figure that's what's going on, I've taken it apart before. Figured it was as good a stopping point as any to go get lunch and do emails.

Went to the gym, did two-(count them, two)-spin classes back to back, had a smoothie for lunch, then my friend dropped me back home, whereupon I seared a roast and put it in the crock pot with carrots and celery, then went to the produce market, came home, took a nice hot bath, put some laundry on, and am now sitting here in front of the computer.

It's The Fella's birthday! today, so I'm bustling around... uh, except right now. And a couple of hours ago. And a couple of hours from now, when I take another break.

So far, I've made four cakes, a big batch of chocolate frosting, artichoke dip, hummus, two loaves of bread, and prepped some crudites. I still need to frost and assemble the cakes, and to run to the store for a few things.

And clean up.

Since I took him out for a birthday dinner last night, instead of staying home cleaning as he'd planned, I'm getting the place ready for some guests tonight. Not a big heavy-duty cleaning, just a tidying: clearing tables, sweeping, cleaning the bathroom, washing the last few dishes.

Friends don't care if it's a bit untidy, right?

Right?

I'm indulging my exhaustion today. I have yet to leave my bed. It's dark now. Food Network's on. I thought about going out to get something to eat, but it's too much effort. I'll eat tomorrow. I did change my underwear, and brush my teeth...

It's like I was so busy and did so much this past week or two, with semester grades due, state regents prep for the students, stupid unit plans due, proctoring exams, plus social/family stuff that's fun but zaps me too, that I can't move. I'm sure it'll pass. On a good note, I'll probably be awake for the Australian Men's Final at 3:30 am (a Federer free final, yay! I like Federer, but it was getting monotonous. I'm rooting for Jokovich).

I worked today, while Mr. V took care of the laundry; re-doing the shelves above the washer and dryer; and making dinner. Right now I have my feet up, and I'm thinking either of ice cream or a glass of wine. Hmmm...decisions, decisions...

Took the dogs for a long hike way up a mountain near Bent Creek - that was cool; there was still snow & ice in spots but the sky cleared & got blue & the sun came out & I didn't see another person for an hour or more - excellent. Then I came home, vacuumed, swept, dusted, cleaned and, most importantly, dumped another whole bottle of Drano down the bathtub in vain hopes of not having to stand in ankle deep water every time I take a shower. Sigh. Then I chased it with a kettle full of boiling water a half hour later AND plunged the hell out of it but it's still like molasses, only slightly quicker molasses than before.

And then I did the Great American Shopping Tour of Giant Stores: K-Mart for dog food and Drano(that was on the way home from hiking actually) and Michael's Crafts for more black merino wool to finish a scarf, Target for socks & mittens & big cheap glass jars to make terrariums in, Wal-Mart for pizza & potting soil & socks for the kid and finally, Lowes for a new maul to split wood and a teeny fern. You haven't lived until you've walked through Lowes with a giant maul in one hand and a tiny fern in the other. Now my checking account is completely empty and I'm watching dumb horror movies on the Sci Fi Channel with my son, drinking beer & hot chocolate with rum and knitting.
