Help me pick out glasses! I'm going to Lenscrafters tomorrow for (probably) my first pair of glasses.[More:] The probably is because I'm not entirely sure that my vision has gotten bad enough to need glasses. I think it has. But I'm not sure. Ergo the appointment.

But! Assuming that it has, it means I get to buy glasses! Yay! But I have no idea what I should be looking for! Boo!

I look like this and this and this. My hair's a bit longer now and doesn't get in my face anymore.

I don't even know what kind of a face shape I have and what that means or what I should be looking for. Help!
All I can say is that the people at lenscrafters (at least the one I went to) are really patient and helpful and will spend as long as you like, giving their honest opinions. They are great at getting the right frames for your face.

(i have the vogue 3490 ones)

From those photos, I'd say you have the much-coveted oval face. Gosh, you're pretty.

If you're not sure of your face shape, you could do what I did. After many years thinking I had a round face, I was jolted when my drawing teacher told me my face was heart-shaped. I went home and, standing before a mirror, traced my face outline in eyeliner pencil. Sure enough, it was heart-shaped.

You could try that.

If you do need glasses, you'll just go have fun trying on frames and working with the frames person. They do know that it's an important thing and you won't be rushed. Something will just click for you, I'm sure.

If you are not dead set on getting your glasses at lenscrafters...you might try zennioptical...

You could still get the eye exam at lenscrafters, and order 5X as many pairs of glasses from zenni. You know, cuz they break...

But, i totally understand the ease of getting both the exam and glasses at 'roughly' the same time...

Sorry, I'm not so great at fashion, i just know the glass lenses on my face help me see better!

Awww! Thanks, elsa! *wriggles happily*

My sister also suggested Zenni but I kind of want at least one pair of properly fitted glasses since this is my first time and I've no idea how they're supposed to feel on your face / how the world is supposed to look different. I figure after I've worn it for a while I'll go gangbusters over there for alternate styles and whatnot.

Oh, oh, I have one unasked-for piece of glasses advice: buy your glasses where it's convenient to have them serviced. Especially since this is your first pair, you may find you need an adjustment in a week or so, if they're rubbing you wrong on your ear or the bridge of your nose.

The best pair of glasses I ever got was when I told the optician to pick them out for me.
