Last supper portion sizes have grown Did anyone link to this? I can't find it but I find it hard to believe that nobody did. Anyway, so this study looked at the food portion sizes in depictions of the Last Supper during history and found that they have gotten bigger over the years.

Two teenagers fall in love My friend told me about this...then posted a video on her bloooog. This is one of the prettiest, heart wrenching-est songs I've heard in a long time. Jesse Winchester on Elvis Costello's show, Spectacle, doing a song called "Sham-A-Ling-Dong-Ding"

How do y'all deal with strangers making objectionable comments within your hearing? MetaCouch? So this has both a specific and more general component -- what are the specs on using something affiliated with MeFi as an analog to couch surfing? I am specifically looking for a friendly crash spot and maybe a tour companion if my partner and I went to Detroit from April 8-10 (Frozen Four), but I could see this being useful at other times. Terms, of course, negotiable; we are an awesome couple in our early 30s.
Bunny! OMG! He is very cross.

Star Wars Cookies Pretty much what it says on the label. Warning: page is ad-laden and pretty much a web designer's nightmare. But I like the cookies.
Newborn denied health insurance because of preexisting condition This one hits me pretty hard because that could have been my kid. We have the same insurance company, and my son was born with that precise heart condition. Luckily for us, BCBS didn't choose to deny coverage. (He's perfectly fine now--TGA is a condition that is completely corrected by one very precise and very expensive procedure.)

The anger came from not been given a chance, from being told to shut up and sit down and act like a lady." (Joan Fucking) Jett laughs, the rasp in her voice heavy with passion and grit. AskMechaaaaaaa I could have sworn there was a site (it might have even been on MeFi) that let you search any query with arbitrarily repeating characters and graph the results -- i.e., "kha*an" would search "khan", "khaan", "khaaan", "khaaaan", etc., and compare the number of results for each on a chart. But I can't find it anywhere in my history/bookmarks/googles, only one-off images done manually. Am I imagining this?
Hot & spicy food? Love it! But... it gives me the hiccups. Just wondering if I'm a total anomaly, or if this happens to anyone else. Anything really hot, like Thai curry, or Indian curry, some Korean or Chinese dishes... I'll get the hiccups almost immediately: right after the first bite. Usually lasts for a couple minutes at most, so it7s not debilitating or anything. But, anybody else have this? Or heard of it?
I just realized that I hadn't given Slashdot a single thought or seen its mention in almost seven years. Is it even remotely relevant today?

Cauliflower Swan I can't resist showing off a picture of my little grandniece, Cauliflower Swan, in the dress I knitted her for Christmas. As you can see in the picture, I overestimated how fast she would grow. I made matching slippers too but they were far too large, and probably won't fit until next year.
And yes, I actually do call my grandniece "Cauliflower" — it's a pun on her name.

Sorry guys, but I find the #cashgordon Twitter saga hilarious Originally, the centre-right UK Conservative Party put up a site called Cash Gordon, attacking the ruling Labour Party's links with the unions. It was a social media site, offering "points" for helping their campaign.

The problem: they set it up so that any Twitter message containing the hashtag #cashgordon appeared on the site's front page.Read more...
