"Rococo steampunk murder mystery"–man, how did you guys come up with that? Was it inspired by or an extension of the artifice of all the giant hoopskirts and wigs and elaborate makeup? I ask because people in those elaborate costumes always looked more like dolls than human beings; I see the robotic kits in your story are even called "dollies."
