A black cat on my lap and a white cat on the back of my chair bonking me in the head. What makes life good for you today?
I have gratitude every day for waking up in a clean bed, knowing where I spent the previous night and how I got home. For an ex-drunk, that's something I cherish. There were too many times when I came to with no idea where I was, who I was with or how I got there.
I love the luxury of sitting at the computer with a mug of coffee, reading the news, catching up with the mail and knowing I have the whole weekend ahead of me.
Yeah, and the cat thing too, although mine are not particularly keen on too much human contact and refuse to sit on my lap. As they're both rather porky, that's probably not a bad thing.
Today, a looong walk with my daughter to Ueno pretty much made it a fine day for me. The weather was fantastic, a brilliantly warm and sunny day, heralding the coming Spring. Got my girl some new jeans, cause she's suddenly outgrown most of her old ones. She's growing like kudzu. That is, fast.
A gorgeous day that I will spend outside with my family. Once I finish the yard work, the husband and I will probably recline in the hammock to read, with the dog lying beneath us. Bliss.
The American Museum of Natural History and my child happily declaring "PUPPY!!" at the top of her voice when we were looking at a scene of wild dogs bringing down some sort of prey animal.
Also a two-year-old nephew. Apparently my name cannot be spoken in my sister's house without him saying "Want to call Achel!"
I'll add Skype with video to the list, since it makes that possible.
The lovely biology adjunct lady yesterday who helped me make up the lab that I missed while I was sick gave me some toys to take home (pipettes and enzymes) so that I can play at cheese-making this weekend.
The oldest niece, turning 19 today and home from college for trimester break.
The newest niece, about a day and a half old.
The 9 nieces and nephews in between. Time for auntie to write some letters and send some no-reason presents. (A recent conversation between niece P and The Fella: "Why did you get me a present?" "For no reason! That's what uncles do." She was happy with this logic.)
A promise to myself: if you clean up this dump today, I'll make you a cappuccino and buy you some flowers.
New socks! New bras! New sketchpad!
I found the pin my mother gave me! It's been missing all winter!
