5. I'm gonna live on a mountain Way down under in Australia

6. Although your mind's opaque, try thinking more if just for your own sake

3 is from (Can you see) The Real Me, from Quadrophenia. I recognise several of the others, but can't seem to place them in context this morning.

1, 2, and 3 are all correct! I was wondering if someone would get #2 - it's my fave Abba song, but doesn't seem to be a "Go-to" song for most people.

8 is "No Matter What" from Badfinger, and the only reason I know that is because I loved the Now and Then soundtrack when I was 11.

Yes on 8. When I typed it with the song in my head it seemed too obvious - but looking at it now, I can't believe you got that. It seems so vague.

is #2 Voulez Vous?

4. is a talking heads song which I can never remember the name of because I don't like the Talking Heads, but it's quoted at the beginning of Bright Lights, Big City. Facts don't do what I want them to / facts come with their own point of view.
or I could be totally wrong.

So far, the two I knew have been guessed! Nuts. I'm gonna come back to this though, cos there's a couple that sorta sound familiar.

You're right, crush, and I don't remember the name of the song, either.

In case clues are needed for the remainders:

5. I'm gonna live on a mountain Way down under in Australia
-next line is: "It's either that or suicide - it's such a strange strain on you"

7. Twenty or thirty pounds of potatoes or twenty of thirty beers
-next line is "a turkey on Thanksgiving, like alms for the poor, all we need are the necessities and more"

9. Never before have I turned on you, you look too good to me
-another line in the song: "Stakes are high and so am I, It's in the air tonight"

10. I used to bet that you didn't care, But gambling never got me anywhere
-the song opens with: "Reality's a dream, a game in which I seem"

The Talking Heads song in question is "Crosseyed and Painless"
