Cool! I really dig Mike Nesmith. Usually I prefer his less-country stuff, though this song is one of his better countrified ones.

When, as kids, my brother and I used to pretend we were The Monkees, I was always jealous because he, being older, got to be the cool Mike Nesmith, while I always got stuck with the hapless, put-upon Peter Tork. It wasn't until much, much later that I came to realize we had, as if by instinct, chosen to emulate the two members who possessed actual musical talent.

Mike was my favorite Monkee. I always wanted to be Mrs. Wool Hat.
