Do any of youse guys want an Aloe plant? Now that it's finally nice enough to sit outside, I have separated the pups that had grown over the winter, and have around 9 that were pretty well established to give away.

These aren't any fancy strain (that I know of anyway), they're just from a plant my mom gave me a couple of years ago.
Thanks for the offer, argentcorvid! I am actually in the market for an aloe plant. Where do you live? How could I get it from you. Unless you live within a reasonable driving distance from Chapel Hill, NC, I doubt I could come pick it up. Can they be shipped?

I'm in Iowa, so it would have to go through the mail. it should be ok, as long as it doesn't get crushed.

send me an email with a shipping address, and I'll see what I can do to make sure it arrives safely.

I'm in the same boat as msali, but I don't want to put a strain on you by making you mail another one across the country.
If you can't find any local homes, though, I'll gladly take one of your hands!

It's ok, I already hit my neighbors (and work) last time I did this. I can't imagine that they'd want another one.

Oddly enough, this is how I got the aloe I've had for eight years.

A woman I knew through a message board offered her aloe shoots to the community. She lived in the mid-western U.S.; ours arrived in Alaska in a padded envelope with a damp paper towel wrapped around the roots (and perhaps in a plastic bag). The two shoots looked a little sad for the travel, but both readily turned into healthy indoor plants.

ooh! I want one too! I was just thinking that I needed more plants to keep my windowsill company. I'm emailing you at the address I found on mefi, hope it's the right one.

My dad has a monster aloe plant in his greenhouse. I gave it to him about 15 or 16 years ago in a 6-inch pot. Now it's in a pot with a diameter of about 2 feet, and it's at least 4 feet tall. It has babies every year, and every year when I'm home for christmas we go out into the greenhouse and divide/pot all the little ones. This year there were 18 new potted aloes.

I tell you this only so you know that it's going to get even harder to give them away as time goes on. Get rid of as many as you can now.

"pups?"

Babies.
Shoots.
Clones.

Aloes make lots of them.
