This is me! →[More:]Yesterday around 1:00, I posted an AskMetafilter question about how very, very much I want to help out the marriage equality movement. I got some great ideas. Just after 2, a reporter posted an interview request on my blog, and we did the interview via phone at 2:30. By 3:30, it was online.

No one's asked me to do the honors, though. I really hope someone does!

How fun!

In order to apply for a marriage license with D.C. Superior Court, applicants must first list the name of the person who will be officiating the wedding ceremony. What a pain! That's not how it is in NY. You get the license and whoever ends up officiating fills it out.

We're going to try to meet at the courthouse, so they can be wed the instant their license is ready, Monday at 8:30, I think. They're planning on getting in line hours earlier, hoping they'll be the first! Young love!

Guess I'll go ahead and put in for a day off!

No idea what I'll wear. I do have a nice dark suit, and actually had it altered the last time I did a wedding, two years ago, so it fits pretty nicely. I see this mainly as a fun way to leap an administrative hurdle, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to appear solemn and serious.

Oh, I think a suit is a really good idea -- it lends some dignity to the whole occasion! If it were me on line to get married, I'd take it as a kindness that the officiant was dressed well.
