The Heavy. OMG, I love these guys. Their music is like you put 1971 in a blender, and this soul/funk stew was the result. A couple of videos:

"Oh No Not You Again!"
"How You Like Me Now?"
Vurry nice. For some reason, I confused The Heavy with The Slew, who are a heavy turntable band. More Ninja-Tunery, too!

It was great a while back when they appeared on Letterman and he had them do the song again. That hasn't happened before and was awesome.

The Kia ad airing now with the kids toys that go out on the town with How You Like Me Now? is pretty cool. The knit doll getting a tattoo.

Yeah, I recognized that first song from the Kia ad with the sock monkey. These guys are fun!

Oh, and.... I find all my new music on TV commercials these days.

Ha! I had no idea they were on Letterman and in TV ads... I'm glad, because they need to be famous. Fuckin' a, they rock.

Here's another song I love off the album: "No Time"

I've been digging The Devil's Blood lately - also a definite throwback sound.

It's not exactly the same, but The Heavy has a similar vibe to certain Led Zeppelin songs. Which is a very, very good thing indeed.

No wonder Verizon wireless is coy about when off-peak hours start. || PLX4032
