A Lyrics Quiz of Music Favored by those God Damned Baby Boomers. . . (geriatric edition)

[More:]1. Look at those jokers, glued to that damned hockey game.

2. We can share what we got of yours, 'cause we done shared all of mine.

3. You've been fooled into thinking that the finishin' end is at hand.

4. Take all those blues, must be a thousand hues, and each is differently used. . .

5. . . .and I'm not gonna play your game anymore.

6. and Little Betty Lou. . had a date but didn't wanna s****w. .she changed her mind, when slipped a dime or so.

7. . . she has flunkies. . .lazy diamond-studded monkeys.

8. The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same . . You're not to blame

9. But what can I do. . I love her too.

10. I was chopping down a palm tree when a friend stopped by to ask. . .
Think back to what LP's your parents had on the stereo. (I may have to leave so I'll leave the moderation of this to the group.)

1. Raised on Robbery (Joanie Mitchel)
posted by Obscure Reference 04 March | 19:21
I could have spelled that a lot better but I was so excited I actually knew one!

7 is Love Street by the Doors

2. Grateful Dead, Jack Straw ("We can share the women, we can share the wiiiiiine.")

All right so far. . .you guys were listening . . .do you have that olfactory pot flashback yet?
posted by danf 04 March | 19:52
3 is Bob Dylan's 'Ramona,' if memory serves. Certainly Dylan, anyway.
posted by box 04 March | 20:21
Or is it called 'To Ramona'? Heck.
posted by box 04 March | 20:22
Right, box.. . .one of my favorite Dylan songs.

8. Walk Away, Renee.

4. Is Neil Young...I'm thinking it's actually BUffalo Springfield, Bluebird? The part that begins "he's like a perfect stranger, he's a cross of himself"
posted by Miko 04 March | 21:43
Well close Meeks. Another member of the Springfield wrote it, and it's on the same album.
posted by danf 04 March | 21:56
But you nailed #8!
posted by danf 04 March | 21:57
Drat. But yay!
posted by Miko 04 March | 22:06
I'm not revealing it yet because there's someone else who might get it. So we still have 4, 5, 6, 9, annd 10!
posted by danf 04 March | 22:09
Actually Miko you got the title right, so I'll give it to you. . .it's Bluebird but it's by Stephen Stills of the Buffalo Springfield.
posted by danf 04 March | 22:11
Argh. Oops. Was Neil Young in Buffalo Springfield or am I getting them and all their various bands all mixed up again?
posted by Miko 05 March | 09:21
I think I got #5 too -- "Feel a Whole Lot Better." I thought it was "these games no more" but my memory is imperfect. Is that it? The Byrds?
posted by Miko 05 March | 09:23
Right. . .yeah the Buffalo Sprinfield was Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin and Jim Palmer (to be replaced by Jim messina after Palmer got deported for drugs).

And, it was *any* more. . .the file is on my other computer so I would drop it in but I can't. . .
posted by danf 05 March | 10:51
Any other guesses? I am feeling the need for some closure on this. . .
posted by danf 05 March | 10:53
I'm totally stumped on #6 and #9. I thought maybe #9 was from the Beatles "No Reply" but when I sing it in my head I don't recall those exact words and they don't fit too well.
posted by Miko 05 March | 10:54
9 is a song by a popular quartet whose name is a take off on parental titles. . .
posted by danf 05 March | 10:56
alright:

6. Where's the Money, by Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, from the album by the same name. (He's reformed the Licks and coming through my town in May. . .I have tickets!)

9. I Saw Her Again, by the Mamas and the Papas.

10. Last Trip to Tulsa by Neil Young, of his unappreciated (at the time) first LP.

and it makes me feel so good to know she'll never leave me, dootle-ee-doo!

Just wanted to say that since I started looking at this quiz two days ago, the song "Walk Away Renee" has not stopped playing on a loop in my head.

Good thing I really like that song.
