Bunny love, Bunny hate. It's such a dilemma. [More:]

On the one hand they're so cute! Itty noses twitching! Soft ears!
On the other, they are little garden destroyers. And they're tasty, to boot.

Discuss.

I love my destructive little yard friends - bunnies AND squirrels.

this may sound like heresy here, but I have a mild fear/extreme dislike of actual, loping bunnies.

It stems from the time I had a housemate whose rabbit hutch was holey (and in his room) and often in the mornings as I got up for my soul-destroying job, and after saying a terse hello to my nasty ex who was still up watching videos in the living room, the bunny would escape his room and lope on over to his favorite spot under the bathroom sink.

Inevitably, he would startle me, and I would scream, and then he would make a horrible sound in response, and lope away.

So yeah, I don't really like real bunnies.

We had a great pet bunny growing up. So I still have a hard time eating them, even though I recognize what an amazingly sustainable food source they are. Plus tasty. I just like to not mix my "pet" and "food" species.

The first time I had rabbit in someone's home, I was in France on a homestay. It was very tasty, but there was a major disconnect for me, since they had a pet bunny in a hutch under the kitchen. This wasn't "my" family--friends of "my" family, actually, so I didn't get a chance to ask more about how they walked that pet/food line.

pinky.p: I can see how that seemingly dismal time of your life, combined with a) a horrible sound from a bun plus b) more than anything, the word LOPE, would leave you pretty damned scarred.
