I'm pretty disappointed that site has only one picture of David Bowie being disappointed. With all his personas and roles over the years, I'd like to see Ziggy Stardust or The Thin White Duke disapproving.

I didn't enter my zip code. I'm such a wuss. Is that why David Bowie is disappointed in me?

I wish David Bowie was that disappointed in me!

It's probably because I wasn't in full support of his efforts in The Labyrinth. At least I now know he says "Slap that baby make him free" and not "make him pee" as my friends were claiming.

Can explain this dude's appeal to me? Besides the artistic/musical angle. I know it's difficult to articulate what's behind one's affinities for things but if you're in the mood give it a shot.

Apart from his music, one of the things I really like about David Bowie is that he seems to be one of the few superstar musician-types who seems to understand how lucky he is. I like the fact that he seems to appreciate all that stardom has done for him, and the freedom that comes with it.

Also, he's a GREAT storyteller. Witty as heck. His VH1 Storytellers was amazing. He's a raconteur!

Then, yeah, I do quite like a lot of his music!

thx. Yeah I read that question again and I'm like wait, part of the reason people are into public figures is what the figures are public for. I just haven't gotten a sense of him in my head yet so I guess that's what I'm reaching for. I'm gonna have to do some exploring.

:-p I'm disappointed that the last good song of his was thirteen years ago.

Bowie's also a genuinely creative motherfucker. Like, he's apparently kind of constantly agitating to do something weird or different or new regardless of whether it's for public consumption, in a willing-to-throw-shit-at-the-wall sort of way that's pretty charming compared to the sort of one-track Look At Me Perform, Give Me Money thing often associated with musical celebrity.

There's something to be said for being very good at one thing and doing it and doing it, and I mean no disrespect to artists who go that way, but I like that Bowie seems to just kind of say Fuck It, Let's Try This Now with a lot of stuff, regardless of whether it succeeds or even has a chance to as a pop product.

It's funny about the god-given ass, because as we all learned in Labyrinth, that man has zero ass.

However, I believe his appeal, beyond his true amazing talent, and the reason we still love him after 15 years of shitty albums, is that he is insanely fucking sexy to every human being on earth regardless of sexual orientation. Like Prince.
