FiveThirtyEight to Partner with New York Times Announced earlier today. I like Nate Silver's analysis - seems like this is a great fit. Also, one more chip in the 'blogs are journalism" pile. Launching in August.
Only one Golden Girl left. Rue McClanahan has died at age 76.
Reading Lolita in Bunnyland I know a few of you folks were planning to join in the MeFi Book Club

I can't decide if this is a good Mefi post Mercedes Stafford is the former president of the
Cincinnati Roller Girls. She skated under the name '
Sadistic Sadie,' and won the 2009
Most Valuable Skater award. She was the
Women's Flat Track Derby Association's
Featured Skater in May 2010 (Google cache, as the link has been removed). On June 1, she pleaded guilty to $400,000 worth of airline-ticket
wire fraud. Between 2007 and 2009, she sold fake tickets to her friends and family, a group that included some roller-derby folks (she worked for United at the time, though this article from
February 2010 says she works at a bank). So the WFTDA
removed her from their site.

advertising case study mocks advertising case study - this is a bit of an injoke, but I thought it might still amuse you too. We are getting sick of those social-media-all-over-the-place ad campaigns aren't we?

Lionel Messi: The World At His Feet With its famously erratic coach, two-time World Cup champion Argentina might be the most unpredictable team headed to South Africa, but it has one weapon every other country fears: the best player on the planet.
Photo Friday Advance: Black & White or Monochrome Or, hey, duotone, why not? Funky in the color department, as in not much of it.

You are Helen Of Tory You've been plucked from time to spend time in a bar that is out of time with a kickin' outer-space jukebox. You are a godly Spartan woman. What do you listen to?
