Saturday 3-pointer →[More:]

1) I harvested carrots today. I have more carrots than I know what to do with. This is from a 2'x2' bed. So far I've been trying to dehydrate some of them in the oven. This prompted me to just buy a dehydrator.

2) I've lived in my new house for a year now. Yesterday a neighbor across the street left me a coconut-pecan pie and a note welcoming me to the neighborhood. She also apologized for the lateness. I wrote her a thank you note and attached a bag of carrots.

3) I have two mailboxes. The one on the street is the official mailbox, whereas the one attached to my house is the one the carriers used to use before they changed to the kind on a post at the street. The aforementioned pie was hanging in a bag from the house box, which prompted me to look inside. Seems I forgot to pay my vehicle tax (whoops!), and there's a levy on my car. The envelope has been in that faux-box since early May. Paid online, but am scared that the Deputy Sheriff will come to me and sell my car at auction, as threatened in the letter I didn't get.

1. Finished everything for my cataloging class earlier today. Intro to Records Management starts on Wednesday. (Hopefully my textbook fuckup will be resolved shortly. Goddamn school bookstore sent me the wrong fucking book.)

2. I have a ticket to go see Eclipse at the midnight showing on Tuesday/Wednesday. This week is going to be hellacious and I am going to be so very short on sleep.

3. Going to have to skip the ALA mefi meetup on Monday. I really do not have the cash to be gallavanting around DC. Plus, crowds of people=not so good.

1. We're going to see Tom Petty with some friends of my partner. Wife is okay; husband is the kind of guy who has smoked so much pot that his standard answer to everything, ever, including the likely death of the motorcyclist that they saw on the way up here, as "Okay, whatever." It is 85 degrees out and I am not sure how I'm going to stand both the outdoor concert and the three hours in the car with this guy.

2. The whole apartment is more or less clean. I kind of can't believe it. I love my partner.

3. I can't believe they added "Billy the Exterminator" as a season pass on TiVo.

1. Found a check from July 1, 2009 with a one-year expiration (hope bank will accept it).

2. Soccer. Phooey. Stupid game played by foreigners. Vuvuzela this yo.

3. Third abandoned car in less than 2 years in front of our rental duplex. Do we have a sign up or something? This one looks like it was in a hit-and-run accident -- edge of windshield stove inward.

1. Went to farmer's market and filled trunk with these strange things called "vegetables". I'm told that I should be eating them.

2. Ate lunch at a renowned local meat-and-three. It was just OK, but the nanner puddin' was excellent.

1. I am on the verge of multiple panic attacks about getting everything ready to move on Wednesday. As in, I cannot imagine how on earth we're going to get this done.

2. I am taking a short break from packing and organizing and throwing-away and running back and forth to the storage unit to try to remember to breathe.

1. Multi-band Concert in the park last night.

2. Wife and I led a group on a tour of Meadowcroft this afternoon. It's the oldest carbon dated archaeological site in North America. She's ABD in North American archaeology but doesn't do that anymore so she leads these every year to use her education a little.

3. Hot. Humid. Hot. The cats keep complaining about the heat. Everytime I pet one, I get a handfull of fur.

1. After a lot of research on my part and approval from my doctor, I am on a new daily schedule for my meds. So far, I have had a lot more energy during my waking hours and my insomnia has been minimal, however I am again sleeping over 12 hours straight each night.

2. Yesterday I recorded a synth track as part of a rough demo that was so good that I am lifting it out and writing an entirely different song around it.

3. The kids are dogsitting elsewhere overnight so I have the place to myself.

1. Neighbor brought over a four-pack of Unibroue beers as a thank you for dog-sitting last week.

2. Did the final walkthrough of our new house (video, not from today) and now we have the keys! And the garage door openers! OMG we have a garage! Oh yeah and a house! Former owners have a flight to California Monday at 7am so that's when we get full possession (and we're taking the whole week off work to do stuff).

3. Going out to dinner with a friend at Fountainhead which will be a good distraction. Who knows what we will do tomorrow to keep ourselves busy and not bouncing off the walls with excitement.

1. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care.

2. Went to nice birthday dinner with mom, aunt and uncle yesterday. Very nice, but a painful reminder that I don't have a family of my own.

3. Having awful nightmares right when I wake up each morning. I always wake up with a jolt and heart pounding. The nightmares are usually about some failure, perceived or real, for example like I'm suddenly forced to go back to college but none of my friends are there and I can't do the work anymore. Weird.

1. Just had some fresh home made tortillas with fresh home made beans, cheese, and an ice cold Pepsi. I'm in heaven.

2. Younger Boy made up his own recipe for dinner and it worked!

3. Getting irritated with my brother on this road trip. I'd wanted to take four days on the northern route and hit Birmingham/Decatur/Atlanta, but he can only get so much time off, so we're doing the trip backwards. I'll be going to the gulf locations first, then going up north on the way back.

3a. pleh, back to the laundry, my internet time is up. smooches!

Melismata, I'm sending you hugs and belated birthday wishes.

Me too.

1. My niece left for Italy today. A couple of weeks ago she got back from 2 weeks in Australia. The Aussie trip was for school, the Italy trip is as a personal assistant for a good friend from high school who is wheelchair bound. This is a big deal for my niece, who has a lifelong history of anxiety & basically being glued to my sister since birth. She'll be a senior in college next fall. I'm happy that she's come out of her shell!

2. They sprayed the grassy areas around our building & the mosquitos have been much less munchy. Very nice.

3. Tomorrow afternoon I'm having my second Open Kitchen, & one of stewie's friends is coming to it! I got a client from my first event, hopefully this too will be fruitful.

1. Trying to improve my image a little bit. Buy nicer clothes, that sort of thing.

2. Having actual money in my bank account and being able to buy things I want, instead of things I need, is a little mind-blowing.

3. When I wake up in the middle of the night to visit the bathroom, and I'm in a half-awake daze, I vaguely recall my dreams being very strong and positive and healing. I don't remember the actual dream contents. Just that they had a very strong positive emotional charge.

I'm late.

1. I cleaned all day yesterday.

2. I listened to the audio book, She Got Up Off the Couch while I cleaned. Words cannot express how much I love this book and the preceding memoir, A Girl Named Zippy. The author narrates both and it is a true treat.

3. Saturday night my sister, her boyfriend, and my nephew came for dinner. I made cheeseburgers, fries, salad, and peach and raspberry crisp.

3a. As soon as my sister calls me, I'm going to the beach.

1. Our peas have been non-stop and prolific. Peas in everything, even omelets. They are winding down now but so far they get the MVP (most valuable plant) award for this season so far.

2. Saw Pink Martini for the first time last night at the Bach Festival. Golly they are good, and fun! I figured that they would tweak their set to feature Hey Eugene!, but they just did it in the middle. Really great band, though!

3. Sitting out in the back yard in boxers and a t-shirt right now, sipping a latte. Summer is nice, that way.
