23 June 2010

I just gave notice at my job! This is scary and exciting![More:]

And relieving! My stress levels have been high and my health levels low.

My last day will be July 23rd.

Update on moving to the States: we're waiting to hear from the American consulate for when our interview is (oh please oh please make it be soon we have no idea how long it will take for them to contact us but of please jeebus let it be soon), then TheDonF gets his greencard, then we fly to Florida! Then we visit friends and family, drive cross-country, and land in Portland.

First, though, we're going to visit cmonkey in Germany, go to Paris for a weekend, and probably go to Florence OMG!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

YAY! (At least, I'm assuming this is a yay moment. If not, just substitute the appropriate exclamation.)

Did you sell your flat?

Yay! Sounds like your vacation plans before returning Stateside are fantastic. Wonderful American consulate people in the UK will undoubtedly grant you an interview quickly, and you will be ready to go.

Very sorry to hear about the stress and health parts. Very happy to hear about the good parts. I hope everything goes well.

Hurrah! One of life's great pleasures is walking out the door of a workplace for the last time and knowing that you NEVER EVER HAVE TO GO THERE AGAIN. And then how great to have travelling adventures to look forward to! Best wishes for a speedy consular interview and for safe journeys, and post us photos when you can!

Thanks, guys!

Senyar, we haven't sold the flat yet, but there are plans to rent it out if we have to.

Rich, oh how I wish we could. Goddamn.

Well done. As it happens I've also just given notice, and I'm also finishing up on the 23rd of July! Mind you, I don't have anything as exciting as a move overseas to look forward to (or for that matter, another job...)

Good luck!

That's so wonderful! If your cross country trip involves Chicago - and I highly recommend it does - our spare bedroom is open to you guys. We have the comfiest guest bed evar. And you can meet our sugar gliders. All eight of them!

youngergirl, I sure wish we were headed to Chicago! We're not, though, we're taking a southern route. And eight?! You've got eight? Hee!

Now I'm at work thinking Mwaaa haa haaaa I soon will shake the dust of this place from my feet!

Awesome! Let me know when you're passing through Australia on the way over and I'll see if we can put you up ;-)

I am happy to report that Portland is still there. We hit both Burgerville and Stumptown yesterday! What better reasons are there to live somewhere?

Neato! Best of luck! Have an awesome trip!

Hey danf, my local coffeeshop (Long Island City, Queens, NY) serves Stumptown coffee, that's the good stuff right there. They used to serve Gimme coffee from Ithaca, NY, but they had problems getting the best blend (Deep Disco) and made the upgrade.

Hugh, last time I was there, the people at Cafe Grumpy acted like they aspire to Stumptown status. They were impressed I'd been there a lot.

So exciting! Can't wait to see you both at a meetup!

Yay!
Of course, you know I'm hella jealous of your epic travels and trip across America... but BOY am I glad I got to see you both while I was in London, even if it was WAY WAY WAY too brief!

Hope the rest of the organising is a breeze!
