Which song would like to hear for the first time again? Journey - Don't stop believing just entered the Dutch charts for the first time because of somebody in the Dutch version of Idols covering it.[More:]
28 years after the US.
So I heard it for the first time recently. It's a great intro and the singers high-pitched voice is great. At the point of 'strangers' the song collapses into 80s hokiness.

So I had the privilege of hearing an old mass hit for the first time.

Which song do you wish you could hear for the first time again?
The first CD I bought during my Freshman year at college was Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral, which I picked up on the day of its release. Assuming I could go back to that time in my life to hear it again (for the first time(, I guess my choice would be the first track from that album, which was a song called...

"Mr. Self Destruct".

Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode. It was my favorite song for a long time. Back when I had a favorite song.
"Live and Let Die" by Wings. It is not my favorite song, though in my Top 40, but it did act as the soundtrack for a period in my life that I would like to both relive and redo.

Aw man. Everything I love. These days I'm loving (understatement) the album that 'Life's a Bitch' (Nas ft. AZ) is off, but I heard and loved this track like a decade ago.

I can't think of anything in particular that I'd like to hear again, but I can say there are a few things that I'd LOVE to hear in the context of their release.

For instance, it's one thing to hear Jimi Hendrix as a 11 year old in the 80's. Lots of stuff had happened musically, but man, I think it must have been mind-blowing to hear that music for the first time, in 1967.

Same goes for The Clash's first record. I'd love to hear that for the first time in 1977 and hear it with 1977 ears.

Or The Band's first record, heard through all the psychedelia of 1968. Mind you I DO prefer their second record, but I think you see my point. That's the stuff that I think would be super cool. To hear groundbreaking weirdness at the time that it was actually shocking the established norms!

Not a song, but I'd like to be tabula rasa for Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191.

I was counting the days until The Joshua Tree was released when I heard "With or Without You" for the first time on the radio. I remember where I was sitting in my bedroom when I listened to those three ascending, shimmering guitar notes at the beginning of the song. They sounded not just good, but perfect. Now, even on the rare occasions when I listen to the album, I skip that song. But on that day in 1987, it was as good as music gets.

The other song I wish I could hear for the first time again is Black Flag's "TV Party" - just because the jokes made me laugh so hard.
