mrs chewie & I went swimming this morning. It was the first time in years for both of us. It was fun! i am ridiculously out of shape. Oof!

Tomorrow we're supposed to hit a 50th birthday party for a friend. Hope they have fans & sprinklers b/c it's gonna be 97* & a gazillion percent humidity.

I just got up, checking email and internets while Olive is curled snoring in my lap. About to go make waffles without bacon because there is no bacon in the house! Travesty!

I want to head downtown around lunch to check out the solstice fair and festivities, bring my camera if its not raining too much.

I signed up for a 2.5 hour introductory pilates class this afternoon, and I'm kinda nervous because 1. I've never done any group fitness anything since high school when the athletic students made fun of us non-athletic students, 2. I'm really really not flexible, never been able to touch my toes, and 3. that feeling that everyone will be judging me. I hate that feeling.

But after that there's a get together downtown (aka tweetup). And then the mister and I have to finalize my studio website gallery so people can buy prints online. Has to be done tomorrow, no kidding. I'm procrastinating and self-sabotaging because what if I'm successful at this? Scary thought.

Lessee: hired a kid yesterday to rip out poison ivy. Supervised. Had a plumber visit. Mowed the lawn. Went over to Chapel Hill and bought way too much chocolate, a kick-ass colander, and a few books.* Farmer's market today, and am about to make tandoori chicken, grilled eggplant and a cucumber salad for lunch. Did a little gardening yesterday. Have been practicing some math. Rest of weekend? No idea.

*Wherever You Go There You Are, The Mysterious Disappearance of Leon (I mean Noel), and Mathematics Made Simple. The latter is because I don't even know my times tables, and I have the GRE in mind for sometime in the fall.

Stew, I LOVE that Ellen Raskin book! Actually all her books are great.

I'm working all day/evening today and tomorrow I get to see Toy Story 3, so yay!

Today has been spent sleeping, eating, watching TV and movies, and teasing each other about our slothful ways.

Tomorrow we'll go to Knole House, unless the weather is too crappy. There'll probably be some housework too, and further lying around. Oh, and going to see the father-in-law and calling my dad; don't forget it's Father's Day tomorrow!

The Mysterious Disappearance of Leon (I mean Noel)

Yes, yes. I read it last night. Leesh, if you want an easy addition to your project, get some awesome YA or kids books to relive. The other week I also bought The Westing Game, which was my other fave Raskin book. I ♥ ♥ ♥ luuuuuuuuuurve ♥ ♥ ♥ Ellen Raskin.

Saturday: up at 5am (blah), rode 22kms to next town for Farmers Market, scored fab stuff, stopped at the French bakery on the way home. Then it was playing with animals until lunch, after which we walked to swim class. Then walked home, and it was the usual EM dinner, bath, bed, cook & eat dinner.

Sunday: up at 5am again (*sigh*) I was planning to go to a big ride to a museum with dinosaur fossils and back - but now there's some family thing about my mother in law making sekihan for EM's Birthday (which was a month and a half ago?) I don't particularly want to go with the bad feeling around and especially with such a silly excuse - sekihan just involves chucking some adzuki beans into the rice cooker with the rice. Anyway I'm thinking to still go on the ride anyway soon because I'll probably make it back before 5pm - I mean I doubt it's going to take me 10 hours when I can do half the distance in under 2.

And the invitation was all oddly "you don't have to come if you don't want to" and that just pisses me off too - just invite us without all the drama and subtext.

Anyway I think I'm still going to go on the ride and if we have to go straight to the mother in law on the bicycle so be it.

I went to Chelmsford today where I bought some strawberries, as well as rhubarb and plums, but the mop I wanted in Lakeland wasn't in stock, although their computer said they had one. (Since having new wooden floors I have become obsessed with mops and floor cleaners. This is, I acknowledge, pathetic.)

Tomorrow if I can be motivated enough I will have a look at plants in a garden centre. I'll compare prices before I buy anything though. However, it's more than likely I'll spend the day lying on the sofa watching the World Cup.

- Went to see the Pirates extend their losing streak to twelve. The team is so upset about this that they fired a pierogi.
- Going to see Toy Story at some point this weekend. Either by ourselves or borrow someone else's kid.
- Might run in a 10K tomorrow. Didn't register beforehand but the starting line is only three blocks away so I don't have much excuse.

Building a fence around the vege garden so keep the fucking hares out! They have been eating all (and I mean all) of the vegetables. Fucking bunnies eating our fucking vegetables. If this doesn't work, next method will be a shotgun, I swear.

Let's see.
A relaxing weekend so far. Working through the public library's collection of Sayers one by one. Cooking a lot. Today -- a salad for breakfast, pasta for lunch and I think it's going to be meatball soup for dinner. In between -- feeding the rats at work, thrift store shopping where I got a skirt and a fantabulous wrap dress for 19 dollars total.
Tomorrow, probably more of the same.

I'm in Toronto again. Today was Toronto Island to see Timber Timbre, Beach House, Band of Horses, Broken Social Scene, and Pavement. Really, I only like Band of Horses and Pavement..somehow BSS escapes me. But, it was a great day on a number of fronts.

Tomorrow, meeting a friend at the bus station here in Toronto, then heading north again, for a few days! Gonna take my festival sunburn with me, too!

I'm in Taos and by pure serendipity was able to attend an event at the D. H. Lawrence Ranch. A hotel on the plaza has his paintings and allows non-guests to see them for $3.

Planned stuff for summer, including Ashland/Brittfest, for Twelfth Night and then Swell Season. Also 4 days at a B and B on the west coast of San Juan Island. We have always camped on Orcas, so this will be different and will bike and, this specific stretch of coast has the best orca-sighting prospects. Will take bikes.

Daughter is down for F day. Ate Thai last night. Today, a hike.
