Weekend To Do Lists This helps me so much to have some kind of place to report what I do and do not accomplish at any one time. Hope y'all can benefit from the support, too![More:]

That said:

• Oil change
• Lawn mowing
• Putting shit back into the shed that I've left out.
• Yard sale at my fave substance abuse nonprofit
• Pedicure!
• Beaver Queen Pageant and afterparty
• Message my kiddo and tell her I can't go to her graduation party because I have a friend in from out of town (attending the Beaver Queen Pageant)
• Message the rest of my kiddos to plan a party.
• Laundry (in progress)
• Decide whether to renew my home mortgage
• Pay water bill and auto tax bill
• Deposit checks (I have a mental block about this, which makes me sad. How is it I can have literally hundreds of dollars in checks and a mental block about depositing them????)

OK, that's it.

You?
-Sleep in (if cat will allow it)
-Finish laundry
-Restore budget files stored offsite so I can catch up on my spending record
-Start setting aside stuff to pack for my VACATION in 1 WEEK
-Plant beans, squash, basil, and potatoes, and any other miscellaneous plants that I'm forgetting in the garden...reseed lettuce
-Farmer's market Sunday morning
-Slow Food potluck Sunday night
-Chill

ps...what tag are you using to make bullets? It won't let me use the -li- tag.

• Going to a fundraiser for a music festival that a friend of mine has been putting together. This is year two! It's pretty cool, very community minded. You all should come! Camping is included in the ticket! Sure, you need to drive to northern Ontario, but whatever.
• Laundry, I suppose. I really don't like doing laundry...It's the folding and putting-away that drives me crazy!
• Might make a pasta sauce, or chili to freeze. I'm still sucking at dinner-for-one!
• That's honestly about it, apart from hanging out with friends as much as possible.

- get my hair cut and face mowed (overdue)
- run by campus bookstore and pick up lab manuals for microbiology class that starts Monday
- run by some other place and pick up a couple of other school supplies
- take my pops out to dinner and to see some bike racing this evening
- laundry, cleaning, vacuuming, etc.
- spoil the pooch
- work
- hang out in the pool

-tidy/clean apartment
-practice drinking out of a cup with the kid (involves planning and towels... she's very verbally advanced and quite behind in her motor stuff so we practice lots!)
-open houses, hopefully
-coffee with a friend whose wife just announced she's leaving him (they got married the year before us, so BAM! right on seven years)
-book plane tix to europe (yay!)

* return my glasses that I just got and order new ones (grar)

-Pick up the Miller Maxstar 150s I ordered last week.
-Use aforementioned Miller Maxstar 150s to stick pieces of metal to one another.
-Be sad when the weekend is over.

This afternoon/tonight
- Home Depot run
- cook for the week (I do batch cooking and just heat stuff up)
- tidy up desk

Saturday morning
- laundry
- dust and vacuum entire house
- clean the bathroom

Saturday afternoon
- finish weeding and fertilizing the back garden
- up to three trips to the garden centre with the wheelbarrow to pick up more fertilizer (I can only take about 45 kgs at a time)

Sunday
- continue work on the basement apartment renovations

Somewhere in there
- hopefully a trip to the thrift store, some time spent writing, and some time spent watching a movie or two.

· Spend Sunday morning in a bookstore, browsing books, people watching, drinking coffee and eating a pastry, like I always do.
· Try to finish up a simple little photoshop project that should have only taken 15 minutes.
· See how much it might cost to build a new PC, based on a few askme questions.

Progress so far :

• Yard sale at my fave substance abuse nonprofit
Got a ton of books. Mostly dreck, but a few classics as well.

• Deposit checks
WOOT! So scary.

• Oil change: Tried. Waited 90 minutes and they hadn't touched it. Got them to give me a coupon and I'll go back for it maybe tomorrow.
• Decide whether to renew my home mortgage warranty. FTFM.

ps...what tag are you using to make bullets? It won't let me use the -li- tag.
I use option-8 on my mac. No idea on a PC.

What does "kiddos" mean in this context?
For work I run a youth development program, so the teens who participate in it become like honorary nieces/nephews to me sorta-kinda.

oooh: -go to the food truck fiesta
ME TOO!

Bracing myself to mow the lawn. It's 90F/31C and hazy. We've had a lot of rain, so the grass is long and the skeeters are booming. But it must be done, and more rain is in the forecast. UGH!
posted by Stewriffic 04 June | 12:28
• Buy some tongue-and-groove hemlock to make a door with. I have never made a door, but doing it with clear TnG wood seems to be a way to keep it from sagging. We'll see.

• Mow the lawn for the first time in 3 weeks. I have a non-powered mower which kicks my ass when the grass is tall, which it is now after 3 weeks of almost-constant rain.

• Build above-mentioned door.

• Stain a new part of a deck and possibly sand and stain the new door and all of the decks, if weather allows which it probably won't.

• Do something which will connect with wife. We have not had a good week mostly due to fatigue and being busy. A date, somewhere, would be a lot of fun but this being Eugene and generally nothing worth going out to mitigates against this.

• Work on migrating files from old desktop to our respective laptops so we can get rid of old desktop.

• Watch some NBA finals.

-Deposit first real paycheck- woohoo!
-Make cupcakes with my new Mini Cupcake Maker
-Figure out what to do about checkbook (separate post about this pending)
-Cook the vegetables I bought last night, including the mystery one (I thought I read on the sign it was chards, but now I'm not sure)

Item #1 accomplished!

"Weekend" is kinda relative around here; we use Mon-Tues as our weekend. So, for Fri-Sat-Sun, in addition to the usual, I have to:
- do laundry, oh so much laundry
- return a stack of books to library, pick up a new stack of interlibrary requests (this might get put off 'til Monday)
- do some errands downtown: new shoes, coffee beans, cheese shop
- clean up living room, scrub bathroom, maybe hang a new shower curtain
- bake off a fresh batch of pita bread (to eat with baba ghanoush, already made, and cucumbers and tomatoes)

And iiiiiiffffff I get my list crossed off by Sunday, I think I'll ask some friends to come over and knock out a bottle or two of sparkling wine Sunday afternoon. I had an honest-to-goodness wake-in-a-sweat nightmare last night that there was NO MORE CHAMPAGNE anywhere in town; a few glasses of bubbly in good company should erase the lingering horror.

Lawn mowed. Well, the backyard anyway. It's just too damn hot out to keep going. I normally wear a hat of some sort, with a bandanna on underneath. Today when I was halfway through, I asked sweet D.C. to bring me a bunch of ice. No water, just ice.

Which I then proceeded to put INSIDE my hat, and it helped keep me cool for the rest of the lawn.

Still to do:
* return my glasses that I just got
* start on final project for class
* organize bottom drawer of filing cabinet

I've ordered new glasses but haven't heard back from the company on returning the failed ones yet.

Doctor appointment has been made even though it involved 6 different offices (fucking bullshit insurance website) and a call to my insurance company, but at least the insurance person I spoke to was quite nice and gave me info I didn't have.

The gym wasn't too busy, which was nice. 3.8 miles on the elliptical in 32 minutes (an increase of .43 from last week, yay).

They were bragging about it on their Facebook page the other day (I am a FB fan of a lot of beer-related things).
posted by box 04 June | 14:56
Well they have a whole new facility-tasting room. And they are like 2 blocks from my desk at work. It's a shame that I do not really like most of their beer (too bitter and hoppy for me).

1. Give this place a really good clean, it's filthy from where the builders were working on the back yard. But the yard is finished and looks fantastic.

2. Go to Currys, Comet and Costco to look at TVs before I make a decision to buy.

3. Walk 10km for charity.

One of last weekend's to-dos was to take instruments up to Daughter in Portland, now that shes got her living sitch stable.

Have to share part of this email I just got from her:

P.S. I have been playing the guitar and bass like crazy. And am prepared to take a bullet for your guitar if that's what it takes to protect it.

Isn't that darling?

OK, doing decently on this to-do list.

I think I need to add "Eat Ice pops" to my list now.

Only #1 achieved. Decided it'd be even more fun to take a day trip to the beach with my daughter. Very good decision!
