Photo Friday: Stuff You Make Show us your works![More:]If you are posting from Flickr, please note the following advice, in advance of the mentioned fabulous page getting some editing love:
Yo, flickr's new photo page and share button has screwed up HTML, so not only does it make our fabulous How To Post Photos from Flickr explanation obsolete, it's not working. TheDonF figured it out - to post a picture from flickr now, you go to the Share button on the photo page, grab the HTML and then, at the very end of the tag, insert a space and a slash.
post edited to add Flickr advice from MGL by dg
Note - this advice is only valid if you are using the new 'improved' Flickr photo page. The old-school page works fine.
Is anyone else having trouble posting? My comment previews fine, but then I get parser errors when I try to post. I've spent half an hour trying to edit my post to get past the parser, but no matter what I do, if there's even a single img (no link even), I get some variation on "mismatched img tag":

Cannot post comment, please correct these errors:

* Parser error: mismatched tag: img near . . .

I got an error because of the way my img tags were formed. I had to close them. So:

This caused the error:
<img src="the-url.jpg" alt="my alt text" width="xxx" height="xxx">

This fixed it:
<img src="the-url.jpg" alt="my alt text" width="xxx" height="xxx" />

A painting I did, copying a friend's album cover, to grace the walls of his new rec room:

And, another I did by request one time...as a gift for a fan of Bruuuuuuce's. I was pretty pleased with just how Bruce-y it turned out.

Um, sorry they're so big.

Nice Bruce!

Here's a table I did not make, but I did paint the pretty picture on the top.

I make lots of things, so here are some of them.

Just finished this guy.

This is a detail of the mosaics that form my garden beds:

I'm really proud of them because it was such a crazy huge long project - it took all summer last summer. There are 3 beds, each 2 cinderblocks high, about 12 feet long and 3 feet wide. I went through almost all the plates at all the goodwills in Asheville. It was fun and now a year later I could almost see doing mosaics again. Plus people really like them - they're in my front yard, right on the road and this time of year they're full of veggies and sunflowers, as below:

And I painted my shed.

And this is what I'm working on now; it's another gourd painting, this one is an imaginary map, the definitive map of Planet Gourd, which I'm having a lot of fun with. Part of the northern continent is called The Stem. There's also a Pining Fjord and an Isthmus of Uncertainty and more goofy shit like that. The Antarean Archipelago. The Greater Upper Inner Sea.

I made a jean skirt out of 2.5 pairs of jeans. On the right-hand side, it has a button at the bottom and a button hole at the top so that it can be hitched up for ease of biking. Since I don't have a picture of it, here is a picture of a replica of what may be the world's first bicycle (SO COOL): http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/818853-was-this-the-worlds-first-ever-cycle

Julen, I loooove your Wisconsin head! (And your fake-Swedish-Olympic-Team hat, too, as I have to applaud anything remotely Swedishy.)

I've shown some of my knitting in another thread, but in honor of Futurama's return, here's the brain slug I knit for our friend. For anyone else who'd like to knit it, my other friend made up the free pattern.

:) Thank you for the warm welcome.

I love crochet and quilting both because they lend themselves naturally to pixel-y kind of projects. Geeky crafts for the win!

Also, once I become more awesome at knitting I am totally going to knit a brain slug hat. How could I not?

Ha! I just realized I made the Batman shirt that Older Boy is wearing, too!

Mirror Girl, I do all my knitting on a square loom. It's how I made the kids' hats.

I am totally blown away by all these projects. You are SO talented. Seeing mgl's shed has made me want to do something with my new ugly-ass plastic shed. Except I can't draw or paint. I might get some decals of squirrels and owls to stick on it.
posted by Senyar 25 June | 18:10
Oh, I'm also largely responsible for this.
posted by mrmoonpie 25 June | 21:00
Thanks, Madamina!

I've done a couple other map heads, but the Wisconsin one and the Swedish Team-inspired hat seemed to go together!

I've mad a fair portion of the furniture in my house. I didn't have time to take any pictures, so here's a light box I made for work made from part of a trade show display that would've been thrown away:
