Trout. I cooked a whole trout this evening, which turned out wonderfully, but now my hands smell like trout. Not in a bad way, really, more like in a mineraly babbling-brook sort of way, but it's still not really the way my hands usually smell, so it's odd.[More:]

That is all.

(Trout recipe here. I forgot the cornmeal, and apparently I suck at deboning fish. But it was yummy.)
If the smell is bothersome wash your hands with lemon then rinse well.

Seconding the lemon.
Also, certain dish detergents are good at cleaning off the smell. Lemon-scented full-strength Joy or citrus-scented Dawn.

We have all body trout available in the grocery stores here in the summer, and yeah, it's yummy. I used to like fishing for them (lots of cold water creeks with good visibility in Arkansas), but they are super tricky to catch.

Whole fish make awesome dishes.

Second the citrusy dishwashing liquid for hand washing.

I love grilled trout. It's been too long since I've make it.

Whole trout. Wrap it well in foil (with some chopped onion, or berries in season if you like). Bury in coals. Yum, oh god, yum.

Hey there, trout-hands.

Hey there, trout-hands.

Hee.

It is morning, and my hands no longer smell like trout, so whatever various soaps I have used since last night seem to have worked. It was more, though, that it was the least-fishy fish-smell I've ever been left with after cooking fish. Which I guess means that it was very fresh fish.

I'm now picturing occhiblu with trout for hands, and she's walking around making them talk like little trout puppets.

Left trout: Hi there, handsome.
Right trout: Well, hello! What's your name?
Left trout: Why, my name is Trout!
Right trout: Get out, Trout! My name is also Trout!

I guess it's not really a very interesting puppet show. Sorry.

Heh. I did, in fact, make the trout talk for a while before cooking it up, but ikkyu2 found it disturbing and asked me to stop.

Also, next time occhblu, if you have something strong smelling on your hands, you can soap them up really well and then rub down your tap, providing it's stainless steel or other metal. I don't know why this works, but it is cheaper than buying one of those metal soaps to get rid of the stinky.

Was it toothsome? Was it lovely? Was it precious? (Sorry, I am a little bats on the subject of trout. I love it more than anything.)

Dawn makes a version of their dishwashing, liquid, btw, which deals with smells very effectively. I just squirt on a little instead of using hand soap.
