Finally a follow up to Primer. Shane Carruth made such an amazing movie for less than my car cost, I can't wait to see what he can do with an actual budget.
Wow, about time we got more work from him. Primer, BTW, completely killed a week of my life trying to figure it out.

Primer is one of those movies that just fucks with your head so much that it takes up permanent residence there, to every so often pop out and say "HEY DUDE ARE YOU HUNGRY? I HAVEN'T EATEN SINCE LATER THIS AFTERNOON!" It is one of my top ten favorite movies ever and I don't see it leaving any time soon. And I cannot recall how I even came across the movie. Maybe a Netflix suggestion? I dunno.

This is an interesting essay on how the stuff in Primer "works".

With Duncan Jones delivering a followup to Moon, Darren Aronofsky returning to the mindscrew genre, and Vincenzo Natali set to direct a Neuromancer adaptation, it looks like we're in a nice little wave of intelligent sci-fi films.

HELL YES. Primer is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and absolutely brilliant. I can't wait. Bring it, Shane. I have a lot of neurons waiting for you.

Excellent, ta for this.

Now, that said, if the Neuromancer film ever actually gets made, I'll know the world will've ended.

I swear that I saw a copy of Neuromancer in either the late eighties or early nineties with "Soon to be a major motion picture" on the jacket.

I'm not sure how you could film it now without it seeming like a rip-off of all the movies that have ripped it off over the last thirty years.

After the crap-fest that was Johnny Mnemonic (the first thing by Gibson I ever read and still a favorite of mine) I look with extreme doubt on anything they might make of the Sprawl sequence. They can do what they want with Virtual Light and after, but they better not screw up the Sprawl again.

Oh, and to the topic, Primer rocked. Looking forward to anything else Shane Carruth does.

Love Primer, I picked it up having read it being praised so highly on MeFi.

I sat Ro down and told her to watch it with me, not telling her what it was about. We both sat there wordless, hooked to the screen until the very end, where she turned and looked at me & the expression on her face was priceless.

Looking forward to more from Carruth!
