22 June 2010

Go MetaChat! I am really pleased to see how active the site has been recently. It was a little more than half a year ago that I thought it might be in an irreversible decline. Looks like I was wrong. Thanks to everyone who has been contributing so much.
I've noticed the same thing, and it's a pleasure to see (a) a lot of new names popping up and (b) a lot of old, familiar names from MeCha of yore comin' back for more. In this Facebook-addicted age, I'm so glad MetaChat can still be a popular timesuck and kibitzing locale.

Keep the posts'n'comments comin'!

Facebook has the disadvantage of being full of people I know. I can say anything to yinz here.

Thanks for the thanks, grouse!

*yells "whuffles! whuffles! whuffles!" and runs in small circles*

You're going to have to change your handle if you're so upbeat and cheerful and encouraging, grouse (Or are you a bird resembling a partridge?)

The latter, bearwife. I've actually stopped using the handle in new environments because of this common confusion.

I have been known to accuse grouse of being prickly in the past. Now I know he's just a big ole softie.

*whuffles all round*

In Australia, "grouse" means bonza. Rippa. Beaut. Bloody good. Awesome.
So, there you go!

Gosh, goshling, I didn't know that! What a grouse word!

Yeah, this. Facebook is like having a conversation at a combined family/work picnic - people are listening who you really don't want to know the ugly truth about you. MeCha is like having a drunken conversation with good friends around a campfire - you can say anything you like and people will still like you.

Also, I've always read grouse's name in the Australian context.
