If you're a member of Last.fm, I hope you've joined the MetaChat group. It's fascinating to see what your fellow MeChazens are listening to.
I've been a member for a while but haven't been contributing for the last few weeks since I uninstalled the LastFM app for Android. Something was making the music player skip and I deleted a bunch of background apps trying to figure out what was causing that. Didn't really figure it out.
I was on lastFM at some point but I totally lost my account info. I'll set up again and join the MetaChat group. I could go for some good music recommendations.
I like it for seeing what other people listen to, but I also liked it for seeing what I listened to the most over time and in that respect Last.fm is kinda useless for me. I listen to most of my music on my iPod these days or my small flash player, it can not get the info on what I listen to on the flash player and it rarely gets what I listened to on my iPod, when it does it lists them twice for some reason.
I joined the group (as Magfar) and installed a plugin. So, at some point you'll be able to see the amount of complete and utter crap I listen to. VERY EXCITING FOR YOU.
I also like it for the reasons that weretable mentions. Of course, my girls bedtime playlist makes me seem WAY wussier than I really am. I should remember to take the scrobbler offline, but I just don't.
I also sometimes forget and leave something on repeat and then LEAVE town, like I did this weekend. My last.fm tweet told me I listened to over 1200 songs by Heavy Trash last week. I did not actually LISTEN to them all, I can assure you!
Hmmm...In the past few days I've listened to 9 of the Weekly 10 most played artists. At first I felt in sync with the group, but9 of my personal most played arts for the week (Naked Raygun, Spoon, Title Tracks, Pete Townshend, jason and the Scorchers, Teenage Fanclub, Hank Williams, Nada Surf, and Del Shannon) aren't on the MeCha list.
