Milo's First Word Today was my wife's birthday. As a surprise for her, I've been working with my son for the past month to say his first word tonight for her. Milo's first word.
Milo is adorable. You, sir, are evil.

Hah. I pretty sure I heard the child say "Bad Man."

When he learns to spell, teach him to spell "MOMMY"

F-A-T-L-A-D-Y

(I did this w/my goddaughter. Barely made it out alive.)

I definitely heard "I love you Mommy Happy Birthday!" NOT Dada.

This reminds me of the time I said to my sister-in-law, "When [then baby-aged] Clementine cries, she says 'Maaaaaawwwwww-maaaaaaaaawwwww'". My sister-in-law said, "And the rest of the time it's 'Da da! Da da! Da da!'"

His eyes are incredible! And you're a dick!

Da Da is easier to say, for some reason. My kid said that first. I didn't rub it in, though.

Yes, I've heard most babies say 'DaDa' first. Funny, I could've sworn Milo's first words would be "I'll have a beer".

Also, I initially read this as "Miko's first word" and thought "how would HE know?"

I think he said "My daddy is an ass"...

He's gorgeous. And "Da Da" is much easier to say than "Ma Ma". Think about it. Try it.

Now wonder how many Mechas are staring at the screen, saying "MaMa".

Plosives v. Fricatives. Plosives win every time.

Da Da, you are a sick, sick man.

What did she think?

Plosives v. Fricatives. Plosives win every time.

My wife was a communications major, so she laughed out loud at that.

Yeah, here's the thing. "Dada" doesn't mean "Daddy." It's just a noise he makes. It doesn't specifically mean me. But there's something infinitely satisfying when someone tempts Milo, "Say Mama!" and he just blurts out "Dada." I don't care if it doesn't mean anything. It's still awesome.
