A very corny collection of New Years movie clips And that completes my December musical contributions!
The future of Metachat See below.

wrap up How was your winter holiday? How was your year? What are your new year's plans?

The joy of rediscovering you... Hey there, MetaChatters (? MeChats? MeFiChas? - do we have a nickname?) Just wanted to say that I used to pop in here a few years ago, but somehow, I stopped doing so. Kept meaning to come back and check out Chat, but for whatever reason, I kept forgetting...or something!? I had forgot how much I love the casual, random conversations over here. Great to be back!
Festive thanks! As the month winds down, I would like to thank everybody who contributed some music for December. I thought everything posted was just great, and that festiveness and jollity was achieved!

Progressive Lenses are Driving Me Crazy Upgraded to progressives from just prescription reading glasses. The distance part is amazing, a world of difference. The close-up for reading is really weird and only seems in focus in a very small area. Everything I've read says "you get used to it" but it's been a week and a half and it's making me nuts, constantly repositioning my head in every conceivable way to find the sweet spot. Any tips?
Think I'm going back to the Optometrist this week.

Today, at work at the famous used bookstore, I was waiting at the elevator, when I saw DEE FUCKING SNIDER, lead singer of my beloved
Twisted Sister. He looked busy, so I didn't ask for a picture or an autograph. I merely tapped him on the shoulder and said "I saw you open for Iron Maiden when I was 14." He looked me up and down and said "Looks like you turned out OK."
Dig ya, Dee.
Christmas with Bing & Frank. Saw this on tv last night. Cheesy, but good clean fun. Even though it was made for TV in 1957, when not a lot of people had color sets, they filmed it in color, brilliant and vibrant color actually. I totally want some of that punch Frankie's serving.
My favorite Xmas carol Wishing you all peace and contentment, dear bunnies.
Sending love and good wishes to mightshould. (Plus some baby bunnies sleeping in glasses.)
Thinking of everyone who is missing a loved one at this time of year.
23 December 2015
Angels We Have Heard On High I know this carol as 'Angels From The Realms Of Glory", but I like these words more. The acapella singing is crystal pure.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof. The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. Google makes Christmas creepy.
Christmas Snoopy! If you are of a certain age, you've probably heard
this 60s song by the Royal Guardsman about Snoopy fighting the Red Baron. Were you aware that there was a
Christmas followup? It's heartwarming & rockin', I tell ya.

Friday question NOT from the book of questions Inspired by the Secret Quonsar thank you thread on Metatalk -- what present have you given or are you planning to give that you've enjoyed planning for the most?
ChristmasWaltzChristmasWaltzChristmasWaltz. I originally planned to post
Doris Day's Christmas Waltz, and then I remembered I'd posted it a few years ago, so I looked up
Peggy Lee's version, and then I remembered that
Mel Torme had a nice version, and then Oh My Goodness look

Susan Boyle!

Not festive music, exactly. But I heard this on the radio yesterday and it's just so amazing that something This Not Right exists that I had to post it:

Creative Challenge As part of a work project where we're going to be a Christmas tour, I need to decorate a Victorian room along the theme "Seven Swans a-Swimming." I'e found lots of die-cut swans to make paper ornaments from, and also some glittery swans on sleds as ornaments. But what I else could I do to really work that theme into the decor? I'm not the greatest with floral display but I would tackle it for a clever idea. The danger with this theme, of course, is that it comes out looking like a tacky wedding! Thanks for any creative ideas you can offer.

Fabulous day here. After I finished work, a friend who's visiting picked me up and we went to late lunch and enjoyed decadent fresh made vidalia onion rings and burgers. Ran a couple of errands then came home and took a rare but much needed nap.
Later in the day, I replaced the ignition coils in car (easy fix.)
Late in the day hung out laundry and took cat out in her harness; then we sat out while kitty explored. The weather was perfect : low 70's, light breeze and few bugs. We finished the day sitting out there eating cheese and crackers accompanied by nice wine and jazz music. Overall, a beautiful day.

Finally finished a frustrating fable... Have you ever picked up a book, and ended up being relieved that it was over, simply because it exasperated you so much? Yes, I just fininshed "Ahab's Wife: Or, The Star Gazer" by Sena Jeter Naslund. 666 pages (yes, really) of too much existential ramblings, interwoven with a completely unbelievable story line. Thank goodness I got it at the used book store, and didn't pay full price for it.
What have been your most frustrating books?

What should I plant? There's a windowbox-sized planter hanging on the side of our deck. I figure I might as well take advantage and plant something in it. BUT WHAT? This is northern NJ, it's partly to fully sunny on the box, and I would like perennial flowers. What would be pretty and not too easy to kill?
