21 December 2015

How long did you have daylight today? I wonder what time the sun came up and went under where you live.
It came up at 7:55 am this morning and will go down again at 4:15 pm. We are far enough north to have a short shortest day, although we can't compete with Anchorage, where my brother lives -- there, the sun won't be up until 10:15 am and will be down at 3:41 pm.

Sun up at 7:53 and then down at 4:53 up here in Northern California. Back home in PA, it's 7:38 and 4:58 so Pittsburgh gets about 20 extra minutes of light.

Oh, and please add your location.

Oops - that would be useful, right? I am in Atlanta, Georgia!

In beautiful Augusta, Maine:
Sunrise at 7:10 a.m.
Sunset at 4:02 p.m. (or 16:02)

Here in the NL the sun came up at 8:45 and went under at 16:30 so that's about 7:45 of sunlight today.

Great scott. Anchorage sounds brutal. Just 5:30 of sunlight. For my own european reference: that's as high up as Bergen Norway.

I'm surprised with the length of day in Northern California. Since in European terms that's just a bit North of Madrid.

Approximately 10 hours of daylight in Atlanta: that doesn't sound too bad Needlegirrrl. I think that would put you in the middle of Morocco at my longitude.

Janetland, almost 9 hours of daylight! You're so spoiled!
(Thank you for translating to 24 hour notation. Very considerate!)

Sunrise was at 08:04am and sunset at 15.52pm. But it seemed dark long before that because of heavy rainclouds.

Oh, I'm in the UK, just slightly east of the Greenwich Meridien, a few miles from the centre of London.

7:06 AM - 4:54 PM in San Luis Obispo, CA... not just nearly 10 hours, but starting 1:06 after 6AM and ending 1:06 before 6PM. Symmetrical!!!

Burtonsville, MD here. Weatherbug says 723am-448pm. My sister and I are doing sunrise mimosas tomorrow morning to celebrate the solstice. :)

7:16/4:32 -- NYC, baby

It was quite the beautiful sunrise this morning, too. Deep red sky starting around 6:30, then spreading into soft pink hues throughout the sky. Great view from the 23rd floor.

Sunrise 08:14, sunset 15:55. In the UK, about 100 miles north of Senyar. There's a reason people in the UK drink/eat comforting things at this time of year!

Seems like altolinguistic, senyar and I have the shortest days. And thus the most christmassy time!
We're lucky.
