Don't rake leaves. Okay, happy to oblige, but it's gonna look pretty nasty next spring . . . .
We get to put our leaves in the gutter for town pickup, and I love it! Makes raking fun. The weather here being totally freakin' gorgeous doesn't hurt, either.

Yeah, it's the bagging that gets me more than the raking. I did the side yard today, but the back yard I have a horrible feeling is going to benefit nature this year. I just can't.

Bagging is the worst.

We are not supposed to bag our leaves for pick up, so that's good. Bad news is we have almost 4 acres and lots of trees... Lucky for me this is a task that my husband takes on, but I did forward this link to him.

This is the time of the year that I'm happy that I live in a townhouse and have the one spindly tree set into the sidewalk.

I wonder what kind of trees the author has. In my experience, leaving the leaves works well for the crape myrtle & redbud leaves, which are smaller, but not so much for the maple leaves as they make a dense covering and kill the grass/weeds.

My neighborhood contracts with a service that comes through and vacuums-up the leaves. All I have to do is rake them to the curb, which is just about all the work my poor back can handle anyway.

I chop them with the mower then vacuum them up and use them for mulch.
