Friday question NOT from the book of questions So, we are going to make a movie of your life. What actor, living or dead (we'll revive 'em), would best portray you? Explain.
I think I'd opt for Ashley Judd. She's a zillion times more gorgeous than I, but she is at least not a Young Thing any more and I relate to her directness, her willingness to take on controversy, her passion for animals, and her feminism.

When I was working at one job 30-odd years ago, we had discussions about who would play us in a novie/TV show about our office. I recall my boss would've been Lily Tomlin (not a bad thing), keeper-of-inventory-guy was very Rob Reiner and one of the 'office girls' was a Valerie Bertinelli-type. (Please remember this was Early 1980s) And the consensus was that I was TOTALLY John Candy. Well, I've outlived him by 15 years (so far), so I have no idea what he'd look like today. I regret to admit I now look like a slightly-older Kevin James (because I don't think he could handle any of the nuances of my personality), but a younger me was more like Chris Pratt from his Parks & Rec period... and I am REALLY overthinking this, aren't I?

Before the baby weight I resembled Sarah Silverman. I'd be good with her playing me.

Werner Herzog. As he says, he is a product of his “cumulative humiliations and defeats,” and “chronic perplexity.”

I can't think of any actor who looks like me (Danny De Vito, maybe?) so I'll opt for someone who I think is beautiful - Meryl Streep. She'd probably nail my flat East Midlands vowels too.

She's a little bit older than I am, but Bridget Fonda is a more-glamorous (and thinner) version of me. I was named after Kim Novak though, whom I don't resemble at all.

I wouldn't trust any of them to get me right, so I would do the role myself.

Yes, I really am that egotistical. I just don't wear it on my sleeve most of the time.

Liza Minelli. I hear there's a resemblance. Plus we share a love of jazz hands.

ha. Well, I was named after Brigitte Bardot.

....yeah.

About 10 years ago, my husband insisted I looked like Drew Barrymore. Not so much, now at least. And my personality vs the persona she puts out to the public => opposites.

I don't know about me, but John Cusack could definitely play Jon (he pretty much was Jon in High Fidelity).

People used to say I looked like Barbi Benton when I was young.

Jodie Foster

Had a girlfriend who insisted that I looked like Matthew Modine.

I don't know how casting works.
If they'd go for the general physiognomy I guess a younger James Cromwell gets closest. You may know him as the tall Irish commisioner from LA Confidential.
Or maybe Stephen Merchant.
I think neither has my big eyes (a very unmanly trait I think).
Another alternative would be James van der Beek. He has my humongous western european caucasian forehead.
My daughter ended up inheriting both traits, the big eyes and high forehead. Even though pigment wise she doesn't look very Dutch.

Btw I had to google Barbi Benton. A playmate. Which sounds intrigueing. Also; Sarah Silverman sounds rather good looking. If you forget the chipmunk on helium voice.

From the time I was a very small person, I have been compared to Alyssa Milano. As I grew older, that comparison then extended to Neve Campbell and Liv Tyler as well. I'd say Neve wins, as we are nearly the same age, and I have always liked her.

Jack Black, of course.

Well, jouke, Barbi Benton was the young me, I'm afraid. 25 years and 100 pounds later, I'm closer to Melissa McCarthy (a lovely woman, to be sure, but not a playmate).

But back in the day...
