I want *all* your fantastic Christmas musics. In years past, MeChazens would post .mp3s, many of which are on hard drives that are long gone. Share me your favorite, curated, best-beloved holiday tunes and your new favorite discoveries. I've linked some Vince Garaldi from Peanuts' specials.

Anyone have thoughts about Justice League? I thought it was better than the critics suggest, but I was disappointed that we never got to hear the proper Wonder Woman theme from her previous two film appearances. But looking it up on Youtube I found this cover of the theme by the Tina Guo, the original cellist. So great.

Holiday Card exchange over at MetaTalk Hey, I started a holiday card exchange MetaTalk thread - we're doing international or just US, your preference.

I briefly talked to ThePinkSuperhero about it, and she suggested we send Mecha people over there, since it's been quiet here lately.

I'm asking that people memail me or email me (username at gmail) their name and address, and whether or not they want to do international or just U.S. by November 23rd, and then I'll have the lists out to people by November 27th. Suggested number was groups of 10, but if you want to do a multiple of that, let me know, and I can add you to more than one list.

Calling the IRS * It took 50 minutes, of which at least 25 were spent on hold, then I spoke to Mrs. H., and was on hold several more times, but I got 2 questions resolved, resulting in money the IRS will be sending. Carolyn Hax nails it today on mansplaining! She is far and away my favorite advice columnist. So wish the emotional labor crowd could see this, but it's thin for a FPP. But she is so good at breaking down the nuances in human relationships, and calling them out for what they are!

Tell us what you're reading now I ask because I am working my way through an oddly assorted stack of titles from the library, where all my hold requests arrived at once. I'm reading in hardback Pierce Brown's Red Rising, which is excellent so far. I'm listening to the Beverly Cleary Ramona Quimby collection read by Stockard Channing, which is fabulous. And I just finished Hillbilly Elegy, which was very interesting though strikingly lacking in insight.

whence MetaChat? Hey there. I noticed we were down for a while What happened?

It raised the question for me again, "whence MetaChat?" Partly in light of this recent interview with Jessamyn on closing down a web community that was linked on MetaTalk, I started thinking that when/if that day comes here, it would be a lot better to know it in advance, and let people say a goodbye, come and export their comments or special threads or whatever they'd like to keep, etc. I'm glad it seems to have gotten patched up at this point, but I wonder if we want to think about a planned demise, rather than just a thing where we show up one day and it's all gone?
