Porn links are not allowed they often led to viruses and malware. Web 1.0. WebRing.org still lives and links to many sites not updated for a decade or two or more. Real Player and at least Netscape Navigator 5.

OMG indeed, such memories!! I remember vividly that very brief moment in time when a webring was the only way you could find out about web sites. (This should be a Metafilter FPP!)

Oh wow, I remember webrings. As Melismata says, it was a revelation to me when I first discovered the web to find online communities of people with similar interests to me.

I am still close friends with at least 2 people I met by clicking "next" on a webring and discovering their sites.
