Dropbox instructions pretty please with chocolate cherries? Have the app, unsure how to use it to do this.

I am assuming that yousendit is still OK?
posted by danf 30 November | 20:06
bearwife (and others), to share a song with Dropbox you first copy it into your "Public" folder. Then right click it, and in the menu you'll see "Dropbox." Hover over that, and you'll see "copy public link." Click that, and the link is on your clipboard. Paste it to MeCha, and you're set!

danf, any means of sending out a song is A-OK.

Yep, I don't think it matters much to folks - Dropbox, YouSendIt, DivShare all seem to do the same thing.

Bearwife, I am not really an expert but I can usually muddle it out. BAsically it goes like this:

1. Click on the "Files" tab and click "Upload" to choose whatever you're going to upload. Upload it.
2. Click and drag the file to move it into your "Public" folder.
3. Right-click the file in the Public folder and select "Copy Public Link." That should copy it to your clipboard, and then you can paste it on your MeCha post.

Sound OK? You could try practicing before your Big Day. OR DivShare might be a little easier.

I'll take the 28th as well, unless someone that isn't signed up yet wants it.
posted by ufez 30 November | 21:25
I'll take 12/8 if it's still open. I totally missed this earlier, so hopefully I can still get a piece of the Gifstravaganza action.

OK, just updated the list. Only ONE DAY still available! WHo wants 12/30?

WooHoo a full slate!

Are we going to make a new post each day, and have that post link back to this thread? That seemed to work well last year. The new post alerts folks to the new song, and this main post keeps them all together.
posted by BoringPostcards 01 December | 10:12
That sounds right BP. So when is the inaugural post?
posted by arse_hat 01 December | 20:36
Here's the first post - Middle Georgia Four, "The Last Month of the Year.

Quick request, when you repost the link here, could you add the title of your song? This is helpful in future years when you want to see what's already been posted.

I'll go back and edit the titles in that are missing, but if you think of it, please pop 'em into your link. Thanks!

Oops! I missed the part about posting links here; sorry!

Day 6: Three choral goodies: Rachmaninoff's "Bogoroditse Devo," Praetorius' "Joseph Lieber, Joseph Mein" and its parody: "Justin Bieber, Justin Mein" (performed in part by me).

Day 16: Bad, worse and classic! Three selections from R2D2 and C3PO's Christmas in the Stars album ("R2D2, We Wish You A Merry Christmas" "What Do You Get A Wookiee for Christmas [When He Already Owns A Comb]" and "Sleigh Ride"); Meryn Cadell's beautiful yet traumatizing "Cat Carol"... and The Kinks, "Father Christmas," to cleanse the palate.

Day 20 is up and running - Merry Christmas Song by Pink Floyd. Two things about this are predictable - that I posted a Pink Floyd track and that I appear to have fucked up the date order by posting day 20 on my 20 December ;-)
