December Musical Giftstravaganza! - Day 23! Getting close! I'll going to throw a few songs into the mix, so check inside[More:]
Here are a couple of my favourite, secular, fun songs!

One of my all time faves is still The Ramones doing Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight Tonight) - I love the simplicity and more and more, I realize how hard it is to add a song to the Holiday canon. I think The Ramones have done it!

Another of my contemporary favourites is Luscious Jackson doing Let It Snow! This song is so much more fun that most versions, and again, a great job at "rocking up" a Christmas favourite.

Another one that I am SO happy to hear each year is mefite PinkStainlessTail's ridiculously fun Jingle Bell Rock. I wish I could find the thread in which is was born, but for those that don't know the story, PST mentioned how he would sing Jingle Bell Rock around the house, but only use the three words in the title as lyrics. People demanded to hear it...someone dug up a karaoke backing track...and this Christmas classic was born. Sophie and Evelyn love singing along; it wouldn't be Christmas around my place without hearing this a few times!

And finally, a video that showed up last year. It's The Pogues classic, Fairytale of New York, WONDERFULLY re-done by Billy Bragg and Florence Welch. I didn't think anyone could ever even come close to touching the original, but dang it if Billy and Florence don't come close.
Cool Ones, Thanks

I love that Pink Stainless Tail song more than I can say. Christmas wouldn't be the same without it.

I loved the PST song. And someone on ask just posted a link to the thread.

I haven't seen Billy Bragg in ages. Since he went from earnest young man to comedian. Och. I suppose it's suppose to make me feel old but I'm just wondering what Billy Bragg is doing.

I introduced the PST song to my stepson on the 23rd and he hasn't stopped singing it. So. Yay?
