I for one would like to say that I have made a lot of friends here, friendships that have stayed in the computer and ones that have branched out into the world. So, thanks, Metachat.
Weddings! I've attended four Metachat weddings (granted, two of those were the same two people getting married twice) but still I think I hold the record for the most Metachat wedding attendances. In fact, I think if I don't attend your wedding, then you're not legally married.
And, as 'pode says, I've met and made a ton of friends through this site, some of whom I'll never meet in person and others I've found to be as delightful in real life as they are online. (That includes, you, Eid, of course, as my Secret Online Crush.)
I've been here since late 2005/early 2006 but under my old name.
Memories...too many great threads to name (i'd have to go search and list and don't have time) but some of my favoritethreads were the imaginative-collaborative ones, like MetaChat Town, and playing Botticelli, and having conversations about "life stuff" that really opened my mind and helped me mature; and of course, meeting some really wonderful and wise friends, some of whom I've also been privileged to meet IRL, and also of course, meeting my sweetie, pal, crush, and sidekick, who lived across the country then, but is now puttering around in the next room. Not bad!
Favorite threads? Damn, I wish there was a button I could click to find them easily.... *runs, ducks, hides*
Hmm, off the top of my head, there was the time where a bunny posted a link to his online resume but didn't take out his phone number, and another bunny—ahem, yes that was me—called it to wish him luck, triggering an entire avalanche of calls which made his co-workers bug out for a while and his cell phone nearly jump off his desk.
Ohhhh happy birthday whuffles, bunnies! Man, five years?
Of course my favourite MetaChat moment was marrying TheDonF. Twice. And having Senyar and cmonkey there, both whom are good friends and both whom I met on MetaChat!
Oh, I see two people have already referred to the fake AskeMe question thread. Glad to know I'm not alone in having fond memories of the time we posted the most offensive, irresponsible questions we could dream up.
